The Mushroom Cure Returns to Boston September 26 for One-Night Performance and Filming

Following packed April performances, the acclaimed solo show returns to the Mosesian Center as filming continues on a feature executive produced by Michael Pollan

WATERTOWN, Mass. – Writer and performer Adam Strauss will return to the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown, Massachusetts, on September 26, 2026, for a special one-night performance of The Mushroom Cure. The performance will be filmed as part of an upcoming feature film of the live show, executive produced by bestselling author Michael Pollan and journalist Hamilton Morris.

The Mushroom Cure is the true story of Strauss’s quest to cure his severe obsessive-compulsive disorder with psychedelics. The New York Times writes that the show “mines a great deal of laughter from disabling pain,” the Chicago Tribune calls it “arrestingly honest and howlingly funny,” and Time Out New York named it a Critics’ Pick.

The September performance follows two packed live filming performances at the Mosesian Center in April and will capture additional footage for the upcoming feature.

“The response to the April shows was incredible, and I’m thrilled to be coming back,” Strauss said. “After seeing what we captured and continuing to develop the film with Michael and Hamilton, we wanted another opportunity to film the show with a live audience. There’s an energy and spontaneity that happens in the room that you simply can’t recreate, and I’m excited to capture more of that on September 26.”

The Mushroom Cure has been performed more than 700 times worldwide. Audiences attending the September 26 performance will be part of the live audience captured for the feature film.

The Mushroom Cure was written and performed by Adam Strauss and developed with and directed by Jonathan Libman.
