NORWELL, Mass. – The Company Theatre proudly presents The Hunchback of Notre Dame, an unforgettable musical journey inspired by Victor Hugo’s sweeping novel that includes songs from the beloved Disney film. With performances running from July 25 to August 17, this grand production promises to move and inspire audiences as Paris in the 1400s comes to life. At the heart of this timeless tale is the gentle Quasimodo, deformed from birth, who becomes the lone bellringer of Notre Dame Cathedral. His yearning for love and acceptance takes center stage in this story. Alongside the brave and compassionate Esmeralda and the tormented archdeacon Claude Frollo, powerful themes of justice, prejudice, and the enduring strength of the human spirit are explored. Broadway legends Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act, Legally Blonde) and Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippin) have composed a lush and emotionally stirring score. This musical masterwork is brought to life in the epic style for which The Company Theatre is known. "This is one of the most challenging productions we’ve ever staged,” said Zoe Bradford, award-winning playwright and co-founder of The Company Theatre. “The beauty of Notre Dame’s bells and a portion of its cathedral have been replicated on our stage and lobby. Our show features 20 cast members, a 14-piece orchestra, and a 22-voice choir. This theatrical event will bring chills to the audience; it’s that kind of experience." Adding a unique theatrical flair, The Company Theatre brings Quasimodo’s stone gargoyle confidants to life in imaginative and surprising ways, adding heart and humor to this story. Don't miss this soaring tale of love, sacrifice, and redemption. The Hunchback of Notre Dame opens Friday, July 25, and runs through Sunday, August 17. There are evening and matinée performances available. Standard admission tickets are $56. Premium seating is available for $60.
