Sunday in the Park with George
Book by James Lapine
Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Directed by Art Devine
Musical Direction by Scott Storr

For our 40th Anniversary the staff at Cape Rep wanted to present one of their all-time favorite musicals, Sunday in the Park with George. Inspired by Georges Seurat’s iconic painting, “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,” Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s masterpiece merges past and present, weaving poignant truths about life, love, legacy, and the creation of art. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and nominated for ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical, this deeply moving story and the breathtakingly beautiful score will leave you inspired and moved. Don’t miss one of the most acclaimed musicals of our time presented in our intimate space as only Cape Rep can.

Sunday in the Park with George is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com.

Art Devine directs with musical direction by Scott Storr. Devine and Storr most recently collaborated on Cape Rep’s 2023 production of the musical A Man of No Importance. Scenic Design is by Ellen Rousseau (The Heart Sellers, Something Rotten) with costumes by Robin McLaughlin (Midsummer Dreamers) and lighting design by Keith Truax (Pickle Me Tink) with Associate Lighting Designer Corey Goulden-Naitove. Tori Mondello is the Production Stage Manager and Brielle Whalen is the Rehearsal Stage Manager.
