"TO DIE LOVED, IS TO HAVE LIVED"......... Can obsession create genuine love? Like a moth to a flame, Theater UnCorkeds upcoming Spring production of PASSION by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, directed by Michelle Aguillon, will test the burning desires of the human heart in this 19th-century Italian love triangle. Winner of the 1994 Tony Award for Best Musical, Passion, is a story based on an 1869 Italian novel, Fosca and Passione DAmore, its 1981 film adaptation. The emotional chamber opera takes place in 1863 in a remote military outpost in war torn Italy. It tells of the passionate love affair between a soldier, his mistress and the sickly spinster whose obsession with him forces him to reevaluate his beliefs about love. The one act musical opened on Broadway at the Plymouth Theatre on May 9, 1994 and was last seen in the New England area almost 20 years ago. Join Theater UnCorked as they honor and celebrate the brilliance of Stephen Sondheim in their first live performance back in two years!
