When famed romance novelist Paul Sheldon is rescued from a car crash by his “number one
fan,” Annie Wilkes, what begins as gratitude quickly turns into a nightmare. As Annie’s
obsession escalates, Paul must outwit his captor before it’s too late. Misery is a taut,
suspense-filled story of survival, obsession, and control that will leave audiences breathless.
This production brings together a powerhouse cast:
Sharon Wheatley (Broadway: Come From Away, Avenue Q, Cats, Les Misérables, The
Phantom of the Opera), taking on the chilling role of Annie Wilkes.
Andrew Reins (Jericho at 59E59, Acts of Love at Theatre Row) as novelist Paul Sheldon.
Al Bundonis (Ragtime, Whistle Down the Wind National Tours, TWN favorite) as Sheriff
Buster.
Misery is directed by Justin Cerne, Producing Artistic Director of Theatre Workshop of
Nantucket, who has directed and produced more than a decade of memorable productions for
the island’s longest-running professional theatre.
Misery runs September 12 to October 4 at Bennett Hall, 62 Centre Street, Nantucket.
