Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary dance and theater artist Ogemdi Ude presents MAJOR, a dance theater project that explores the physicality, history, and politics of majorette dance, a form created in the 1960s at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Six performers embrace majorette dance as a fundamental relic of Black girlhood and an intimate journey of returning to bodies they thought lost. The piece features a music score by Lambkin that integrates Southern rap, horns, drumlines, and melodic R&B and soul.
