The Italian Grand Opera Company stands proudly upon the shoulders of giants, embracing a legendary heritage paved by two iconic Impresarios - Max Maretzek and Henry Russell. Step back in time to the 19th century and witness the visionary brilliance of Max Maretzek's Italian Opera Company. Founded in 1849, this esteemed company took the operatic world by storm. Maretzek's passion for Italian opera and his unwavering dedication brought together exceptional talents, captivating audiences with unforgettable performances. Through his innovative approach, Maretzek made opera accessible to a broader audience, leaving an indelible mark on the history of opera. The early 20th century saw the enchanting era of Henry Russell's San Carlo Opera. Established in 1913, this trailblazing institution became a beacon of Italian operatic excellence in the United States. Russell's relentless pursuit of perfection led to the staging of some of the most iconic productions in operatic history. The company set the highest standards for artistic brilliance, captivating the hearts of audiences far and wide.

Carrying the Torch of Excellence

The Italian Grand Opera Company carries the torch of excellence, preserving Italian opera's rich legacy by uniting gifted vocalists and musicians under Maestro Paolo De Napoli's masterful instruction. De Napoli's far-reaching influence is evident as his students from various countries, including principals from prestigious theaters, follow him worldwide. With extensive experience coaching opera houses and an international presence, De Napoli served as an Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina, an artistic advisor to Riga Opera, and directs vocal studies at the Japan Art Society of Tokyo, nurturing exceptional opera vocalists and enriching his artistic expression. His student currently appear in opera houses throughout the world including The Metropolitan Opera in New York City and Teatro all Scala in Milan.
