Bach + Telemann at Old South Church

Handel and Haydn Society Artistic Director Jonathan Cohen leads the 211-year-old ensemble in Bach + Telemann, an all-Baroque program featuring three funeral cantatas by Bach and Telemann alongside Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, performed on period instruments. Soprano Robin Johannsen, countertenor Christopher Lowrey, tenor Guy Cutting, and bass-baritone Dingle Yardell join the H+H Orchestra for this program at Old South Church in Boston's Copley Square. The cantatas feature period instruments including the viola da gamba and theorbo, while Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 is distinguished by its lower-voiced timbre, built around viola, cello, and two viola da gambas rather than violin.
