The NEP is proud to present the world premiere of Composer-in-Residence Eric Nathan’s The Seas Between Us, written for the extraordinary Mexican flute-virtuoso Alejandro Escuer. Nathan’s groundbreaking work is paired with Gabriela Ortiz’s Antrópolis, a neologism celebrating the vibrant nightlife and musical scene of Mexico City. The second half of the concert explores one of the most important musical works of the 20th century, Igor Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, which brought the powerful influences of folk music into dialogue with the musical trajectories of western Europe. Gabriela Ortiz, Antropolis (2019 vers.) Eric Nathan, Flute Concerto (2024) Igor Stravinsky, Rite of Spring (1911-12, rev. 1947)
