we cant decide between what shows to see. We are debating against Billy Elliot, West Side Story, Shrek, Hair, Next to Normal, Wicked, or Chicago. what do you think we should see?!?!?!
It depends: what do you like? are you pre purchasing tix or relying on rush? How many can you see? Why do you all have to agree...why not see whatever you want to and get together for meals to discuss?
I would NOT bother with: Shrek West Side
I would reccomend all three of the following: Billy Elliot Hair Next to Normal
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Even though I'm bleeding from my eyes, regarding your spelling and grammar, I won't admonish you. I would say a lot depends on your age, and where your interests lie. They are all fine choices, but I guess everyone knows, here, that I'm a huge Shrek fan. If that's not to your liking, any of the other picks are just terrific.
Hair, Billy Elliot, Wicked and West Side Story are selling out these days in advance so your choices may be limited by availability.
Chicago has toured and toured and probably will so again and Wicked has a few companies on the road as well. If you live near a road city, just sit tight. They will show up.
Next To Normal has been building nicely at the box office, but ought to have something available. Remember though it is a small house.
Shrek is playing the Broadway Theatre which is one of the largest Broadway houses. It has a rear mezz that has obstruction issues. Just be aware of that.
South Pacific is worth a look as well, and if you want to attend a good play, Mary Stuart has been holding audiences enrapt.
Start looking on the web or making phone calls to see what might be available. If your trip is over the July 4th weekend, the ticket situation might not be so tight.
Finally, on this very website, BroadwayWorld.com, are a lot of discounts. I see them to my right as I type these very words. Look at them.

I would definitely do Next To Normal. My second choice would be Hair. I personally haven't seen it but i heard its a really cool experience. I would suggest West Side Story but with Karen Olivo being ill, it isn't worth seeing it if she isn't in. Although i will say Josefina is incredible in her own right. The boys leave a lot to be desired.
