Yes, they have very elaborate programs. And T-shirts not just for Dolly but with catchphrases like "Shine Like the Sun," "Sexist Egostistical Lying Hypocritical Bigot" (or however it goes), and one with the "coffee" brand on one side and the "rat poison" brand on the other. If it's early merchandise you're looking for, you won't be disappointed at this concession stand.

the language is no worse than what was in the movie 28 years ago.

Kudisch does say the F-word, but it's while his mouth is stuffed with a rag, so three-quarters of the audience probably doesn't notice it.

I went to see it on Friday night and adored everyone's performances:) I loved it so much I went back again on Sunday to buy tickets for closing night! AND there were some people outside from Budget Travel doing a little piece on "Girlfriend Getaways" for 9 to 5. My friend and I were interviewed for it, so hopefully we are picked re: The Official '9 to 5'The Musical Thread

I saw the show last night, finally! It was GREAT! As everyone has said, the cast is AMAZING. Everyone was really cast perfectly, in my opinion! Stephanie's song "Get Out and Stay Out" brought down the house. It was fabulous!

My only critique would be that i wish the characters had more dialogue. The dialogue that's in there now is funny, witty stuff and if there were more of it, it'd be even better! And they probably have to cut the 1st act down a bit because it is a little long.

For those of you who have seen the show, the pot scene was HILARIOUS last night. The set the 3 girls were sitting on didn't move all the way upstage. So they started the scene with the set a bit further back than where it was supposed to be. By the time Judy was supposed to be "stoned", the set started to move up. Steph goes "Oh my GOD...are we MOVING??...I think we're MOVING! Do you feel that???" The 3 of them couldn't stop laughing, which of course made the audience laugh...It was a pretty funny moment! It went on for a good minute or two.

Anyway, the audience loved the show and there were tons of people at stage door, which I take to be a good sign!

All in all, a very fun night at the theatre :)

I can totally imagine the improv you described... too funny! Seems like there's never a dull moment with that set. It's seriously like a show unto itself!

I saw it on Friday night and LOVED it. :) The sets, the choreography, the costumes, and the whole cast was just spot-on for me. Though I agree with the comments that "Mundania" needs to be replaced with a better song, it was really bad. And I thik the entire "You Killed the Boss" number could be cut as well. Allison Janney was incredible, NOBODY throws a one-liner like her, and Megan channeled Dolly SO MUCH without imitating her shamelessly, and Stephanie's character arc was just so well thought out and well-acted. Kathy Fitzgerald as Roz for me was another HILARIOUS stand-out, I loved her in Damn Yankees, and she was just as scene-stealing in this. The ensemble is so talented, and so hard working, and I have to say, Andy Karl, AGAIN, does so much with a small role. He's endearing and likeable and his voice is just so nice to listen to. I wish he understudied Marc Kudisch though (who was deliciously evil). I saw him go on for Prof. Callahan in Legally Blonde, and can't help but think he'd be fantastic.

Anyway, two thumbs WAY up from me. And they had AMAZING merchandise, I bought WAY more than I should've.

I figured I'd bring this thread back since the show opens soon! BUT I have a question, is the musical set into todays time or in the same era of the movie.

Did anyone see Dolly on Letterman? She mentioned the tour and mentioned a few cities including Denver and I think Chicago. She said them so fast I missed the few she mentioned. Will have to check the Letterman interview when it is up online.

I know it's coming to the Fox in February. I'm really curious to see who the tour cast will be.

Our season hasn't been announced yet and they tend to keep it a secret. The announcement is coming soon though. I already know of two shows coming in.

Eos, do you have any idea how many cities have a Fox theatre?

Ours is in St. Louis and like aasjb4ever said, there's one in Atlanta. I think there's one more, but I'm not sure where it is.
