From Playbill "The four young stars of Glory Days — the new musical that opened and closed on Broadway in the same night — will sit down for a chat with host Seth Rudetsky at the May 8 edition of Seth's Broadway Chatterbox.
Steven Booth, Andrew C. Hall, Adam Halpin and Jesse JP Johnson as well as music supervisor-orchestrator Jesse Vargas will all take part in the weekly live talk show, which includes interviews and performances from Broadway stars. The evening begins at 6 PM at the New York cabaret Don't Tell Mama.
Glory Days, the new musical about four young men reuniting one year after high school, closed at Broadway's Circle in the Square May 6 following its opening-night performance. The 90-minute pop show opened on Broadway following previews from April 22."
That will be an interesting evening. I hope they keep their spirits up and chalk it up to experience and move on...AFTER THEY DISH THE DIRT, OF COURSE.
If they appear at the Chatterbox tonight, these boys deserve the highest praise. What a way to hold your head up high and be proud in the wake of such dissappointment. They are true gentlemen and I hope they go on to great things
I was there with SCBWannabe...it was awesome. All four actors were there, in addition to one of the understudies, the music/lyrics writer, the book writer and the musical arranger.
While they are all clearly sad that their show closed after one performance, they are hopeful that their show will be done regionlly and internationally. The actors and creators are just grateful to have been a part of this piece - something they were all extremely proud of and happy to have shared it with the (few) people who saw it on Broadway.
Apparently, since the producers wre so supportive of the piece, and they saw that the Circle in the Square was available the rushed eveything, knowing that it would be difficult to gat an advance, but as Nick Blaamire stated...if the producers come to you and say they want to bring your show to Broadway, how can you say no?...they knew off Broadway would be a better fit for the show, but that's just not what worked out.
Nick Blaemire also said that he is planning on getting a cast recording done of the show and possibly having a CD launch party (like High Fidelity did at Birdland).
I honestly feel for them now...during the chatterbox, I don't even think they knew their show will not be elegible for any Tony Awards...and apparently Andrew Call was not even informed by the producers that the show had closed...he found out Wednesday when he went to the theater...
They did sing two songs from the show: Right Here and Generation Apathy, both done well...as I stated in my review, the score was good, but some of the lyrics were iffy.
I feel lucky to have seen the show and am glad I was able to attend today's chatterbox. Nick Blaemire and James Gardiner did say they will be writing more shows together...I wish them luck in the future.
So glad you had a nice time WAT! Thanks for sharing your review. I look forward to seeing all these guys in whatever projects their future holds for them!
"Everytime you step on that stage it is somebody's first Broadway show and somebody's last Broadway show. Make it count."
As I said earlier, it's inexcusable that the producers of the show did not have the courtesy (or balls) to notify the cast prior to them showing up for work that night, especially when it was on the internet by mid-day.
From what I understand from one source the producers are to blame. They never raised the money that needed to be raised and have placed these young men in a horrible position. While the reviews were not good, they were by no means the worst reviews of the season. Very, very sad for these young men who were thrown to the wolves by a pair of over eager producers.
That's horrible that they couldn't at least make sure the cast all knew that the show had closed.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...
