I'll be there. Leaving in about an hour, as a matter of fact.

This is very sad. I second the request for reviews. Wish I could be there! He's such a great performer and a really good guy. I wish him all the best. Hopefully (and likely) he will be gracing a Broadway stage again in the future.

"It means nothing to come and sit in a theater night after night and immerse yourself in fantasy, only then to walk out the door and be unchanged in reality. This show will live on in our hearts. I saw him last night and I was so happy to be able to see him again before he left. I can't imagine that show without him. re: John Gallager Jr.'s last night.

It is indeed sad to see him go, I'm pissed I haven't seen the show since summer, but I HIGHLY doubt that he'll never play the role again. Broadway loves recycling...

Best of luck to him! Really nice guy and great performer. I'm seeing his replacement this Thursday, so it'll be interesting. John will definitely be missed, but I'm excited to see new people in the show.

I'm seeing the show in Jan. I'm so sad to see him leave, he was one of the best parts about the show. For those of you seeing the show soon, please let us know how Bashoff is! As much as I hate to see John go, I'm excited to see what Blake Bashoff has to offer.

I'm wondering if he will actually go back. It'd be great publicity if the show ever starts to droop, but won't he look way old for like, a 16 year old?

And reviews would be love. PLEASE post!!

Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal went back to Rent after 11 years.

I was gonna try to go before he left, but I just can't afford it right now. re: John Gallager Jr.'s last night. I hope he goes back to the show at some point, I've love to see him in it. But I'm excited for whatever he has lined up next. :)

I will miss him dearly! He made that show, for me at least. And I hope he comes back again to play it.

Bebe Neuwirth came back to CHICAGO after 10 years and played to houses at 50% capacity. And she's a bigger name than Gallagher.

But I agree with the RENT comparison. If SA turns into a RENT-like following, the return of Gallagher could give a six week or so boost at some point.

Incredibly sad, and very beautiful. John gave a speech at the end of curtain call, but had to wait so long for people to stop screaming that the house lights came up. I also thought it was cute that some people gave him a standing ovation when he "woke up" during the classroom scene.

It was also Christine Estabrook's last night, and during "My Junk", Skylar full-on made out with her, and Jonny B. blew her a kiss goodbye.

And also, to add, during the suicide scene, all you could hear were heaving sobs coming from everyone - cast members, people in the audience...

I should have seen it last week. But I do have wonderful memories from seeing him in the show at The Atlantic. We sat in the second row and I thought I had died and gone to heaven! Especially when they stood on the steps right in front of us and sang the Song of Purple Summer. my eyes welled up big time. I remember that I Don't Do Sadness was one of the songs we liked the most along with his performance. he just rocks that song completely out.

How old is Gallagher, like 25? It'd be a little harder to believably play a teenager at post-thirty than it is to play early 20s at mid-30s. re: John Gallager Jr.'s last night.

But he's extremely talented -- I wish him all the best, and I'm sure we'll see many more great things from him.

It was truly a fantastic and electrifying evening of theatre. Gallagher's a class act.

One of the best, most emotional nights of theatre I have ever experienced.

I'm late to this party, but I will just add that it was an incredible show. It was loud and emotional, from the minute Grigsby conducted the show's opening bars, to the very end, when the emotions spilled out onto the streets. Gallagher seemed overwhelmed at the response to him during the curtain call, particularly when the rest of the cast stepped back, and he realized all of the screaming applause was directed entirely towards him. He was crying very visibly, as was most of the cast, and much of the audience for that matter. He gave a very short speech, thanking everyone for their support. It was an emotional night, and I was glad to have been in the O'Neill to see it.

It was such a fantastic night, from what i remember this happened...

-John coughed quite a bit after taking a drag from his cigarette, and then was like "Excuse me...sorry" it was cute, i forget did he always smoke it for real?

-When he did his little "i passed dance" and jumped in the air everyone even the boys onstage laughed out loud

-Also he did this really funny thing when he went down the line and hugged the guys

-When he said "Truly heaven must feel like this" he pointed at the stage and you got the feeling he meant the show and he was a little chocked up on it.

- Girls were literally sobbing during "don't do sadness" unfortuntely it took a lot away from the scene

-During "left behind" the cast was for real crying even later into the next song bit, Groff totally kept it together though

- During those you've know i don't know if he was chocking up but his singing ws really beautiful and didn't have that kind of hard edge it usually does, it sounded really different

-With almost everything JOhn did people went crazy and cheered and i honestly think if one or two people had stood up at various times everyone would have and he would have gotten like 7 standing ovations.

It was serious an incredible last show.

Grisby was conducting? I thought she was over at Grease?

Grigsby opened Grease and shortly after returned to Spring Awakening.
