As highly suspected, the 16th will be his last date.
confirmed by Playbill.com; here is the gist of the article:
"Lost" and "One Tree Hill" star Blake Bashoff will make his Broadway debut later this month as the ill-fated Moritz in the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre.
Production sources confirmed to Playbill.com that Bashoff will assume the role of Moritz in the Steven Sater-Duncan Sheik musical Dec. 18. John Gallagher, Jr., who earned a Tony Award for his work in the role of the angst-ridden teen, will play his final performance Dec. 16.
Also set to join the Spring Awakening company in December is three-time Tony nominee Kate Burton, who will succeed Christine Estabrook in the the Adult Women roles Dec. 21.

DAMN! I've got tickets for December 18.
Thankfully I'd seen the show already, but I'm taking my friend. She won't be any wiser, but it's sad knowing the last time I saw the show was the last time I'd have seen his performance.
GOOD LUCK TO HIM! A wonderful 2+ years for him in the role.

Posted: 12/7/07 at 6:37pmI have to say I'm sad to see this. He's amazing, and Spring Awakening really should have worked harder at keeping him! I hate when people leave so soon after their Tony, but I'm sure he will do a great job at whatever he does. I just hope he makes it back to Broadway soon.
So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

GlindatheGood, aren't you the one whose parents wouldn't let you see it? You more than anyone deserves to see his last show then. But I'm still jealous.
I want to apologize for some offensive messages posted on this board under my name. The night 0f 12-15-08 I did not have internet access, and someone had used my name to post something offensive. My avatar was also changed. I dont' know what else was posted, or if anyone recieved bad PMs, but I want to apologize for that. I've changed my password, and even though I was not the one posting these messages it still needed to be corrected.

Blake Bashoff was one two episodes of One Tree Hill and five of Lost. Doesn't necessarily make him a start. He kind of looks like Ellen Page with short hair.
The only thing I know him from is You're Invited to Mary Kate and Ashley's School Dance Party.
Sad John's leaving, though. I never did get around to going to see it. Eh, oh well.

Jonathan Groff...that guy is ridiculously talented and I was seriously in awe of his performance. Lea Michelle...that girl can SING and her abilities as an actor are amazing. Her performance truly is breathtaking in this show. But John...why...must...he...take...deep...breaths...after...each...word...to...over...dramatize it? I will say I am somewhat of a fan of his, but his performance annoyed me. It was just too much. But I will still be sad to see him go seeing as how he is a core part of SA.

I really like Gallagher, but I can see where the negative comments come from. There are times I feel like he is 'playing' the emotion instead of the character.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Bashoff in the role. I've only seen Gallagher and look forward to a different take. I just hope they made a better choice than they did for Hanschens temp replacement.
And kudos to the poster giving Groff high marks. I, too, think he's wonderfully talented. (Have you heard him on Scott Alans new cd Dreaming Wide Awake? To die for. Whole album is really good.)

Oh dear God, I agree completely about Drew Tyler Bell. When I saw the show last week I was so unimpressed by him. When he opened his mouth to sing I actually thought to myself, "How did HE make it onto that stage?"
He acts the role okay and he looks great, but his voice...just not good.

I agree with you mywonderwa, Gallagher never did all that much for me. I didn't hate his performance, but "annoyed" seems the appropriate word.

As far as everyone knows, yes. There are still tix available, too. I was suprised...I thought there would be a mad rush. You can still use broadwaybox.com discount code too.
Drew Tyler Bell just finished his limited run as Hanschen. I never got a chance to see him due to the strike, but most people have said: good actor, poor singer (at least in this role)
I'm pretty sure that JBW returned for both of today's shows. I haven't heard from anyone there however.
