and this one is just such a departure for Araki that I thought I'd give it an honrable mention:

The Gregg Araki stoner comedy Smiley Face is coming to DVD on 8 January 2008 from First Look. This goofy Anna Faris and John Krasinski weed-comedy will have a new anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound track, but no bonus features. SRP is $26.98.

Don't forget about the Stanley Kubrick Collection.

I have that set pictured Cruel. I've heard that this repackaging only makes a difference if you're upgrading to HD/Blu-ray.

I wholeheartedly recommend the new DVD of the 1973 French animated classic FANTASTIC PLANET.

I saw that listed on AICN today. Harry was comparing it Aronofsky's The Fountain.
I like those esoteric sci-fi films.

re: A few notable dvds on the way
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
