Sleep No More - what kind of shape is it in?

Every time they announce a 'final' extension, I think OK, I'll see it but I never get to it. Should I?

I hated it. With a fiery passion. 

But I'm in the minority and saw it the first year it was open.

It’ll be closing this summer since their new show in FiDi is ready to open. If you don’t want to go for the expensive tickets try TixToday.

I’ve seen it around 20 times over the years and the only bad shows I’ve had have been because of the crowds. And the crowds these days are bigger and more aggressive than ever. I would say if you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and don’t bother. It’s too expensive now to risk all that truly awful audience behavior.

I just saw 2 shows on Sunday to say goodbye. My favorite Macbeth/Porter Paul Zivkovich is back! He was amazing as both characters. The show itself is in great shape; the bad is usually the audience. Both shows, I saw people following actors with 3 feet away like a shadow, even when they are clearly staying in the room for a while performing a scene. To be honest, if you're a first-timer, it's going to be challenging to follow main characters with this crowd. But this is a one of a kind historical experience, you likely won't get anywhere else anytime soon.

This is the same response I would have other than I have only seen it 3 times. :)

General word of mouth seems to be that they’re extending until Emursive’s (not Punchdrunk, the actual creator of Sleep No More) new show - Life and Trust - opens. A good number of SNM’s cast will be a part of that show, so smart to keep them employed in the interim, I guess? But they’ve been “closing” for months and went to their original marketing strategy of extending a month at a time.

Fun Broadway connection is that Life and Trust will be choreographed by The Kuperman Brothers, who choreographed The Outsiders.

I believe they’ll continue to run the additional bar/restaurant/performance venues on the top floors post-SNM closing. They’ve become their own hot spots for various limited engagements and events, and they’re run mostly independently.

Emursive's new show is downtown, called Life and Trust. There is a themed coffee shop up and running in the main floor of the space called Conwell Coffee Hall. its very cool and tickets for L&T are available there.

I did it two weeks ago and the crowds were ridiculous. It seems like they get worse every time I go. It's now impossible to follow actors or get one-on-ones. I've seen it eight times now and I think that's enough. It used to be my favorite thing but I don't find much enjoyment in it anymore, so I probably wouldn't go back even if it wasn't closing. Which is not to say I don't recommend seeing it if you've never gone. I think it's still worth doing at least once.

I only went once and left about 40 minutes in.  I hated it. I was hot  under that mask and hated the crowds .  But it’s been around and seems to be very popular. If you do go, don’t spend a lot of money.

If you do go, you might've known this already and I very much did not and would've appreciated it: it's a DANCE show.  When I heard "immersive Macbeth" I thought it would be one of those things where different scenes play out (with dialogue) and you would follow the characters around, but there are no spoken lines and the storytelling is fairly abstract (if you didn't know it was meant to be Macbeth, I think it would be somewhat hard to pick up on and you definitely wouldnt' be able to figure out the story of Macbeth if you weren't familiar with it beforehand).  It's still a great experience but I just had totally different expectations going in.
