I'm sure there is a thread somewhere about this and I actually think I've read it before but it was so far back so I thought I'd start another one.
What are some funny mistakes that have happened recently in shows you've seen?
Also I was wondering, I saw Legally Blonde recently and was wondering if anyone has seen mistakes in the "whipped into shape" scene? When I went it looked flawless with the jump ropes and all, but it seems so difficult to get everyone to do all those tricks perfectly with the ropes every single show.

I was there one night when one of the ensemble got her rope caught around her shoe during "Whipped into Shape," and then when she yanked it to get it off of her shoe she smacked herself in the face with it- I seriously went "ow" from the audience, watching that.

Apparently "Whipped into Shape" mishaps are not uncommon...I am still waiting for the night one of those ropes goes flying into the pit. Or the audience.

I'll tell you in a minute. But last week I saw Wicked. It happened at the end of the song Popular, and Glinda's bed was stuck on stage and the next scene was moving in, the school room scene. The bed stayed on for half the scene when two stage crew men came out and just rolled it off. Everyone cheered for them.

About LB, on a forum for the show, a girl attended the show and during that number, Nikki (Brooke) yanked her rope to hard causing it to snap and all the rope beads went all over the stage.

Everytime I've seen RENT since Tim start he has messed up those chords. I just think he doesnt know how to play it. As sad as I think it is for Adam to come back after 10 years I'll be glad Tim is gone.

Last month at A Chorus Line: During "I Hope I Get It," when the whole orchestra first comes in (after the big "5,6,7,8!), no one came in but the piano.

Seeing the very first preview of the Drowsy Chaperone in London and watching the curtain come down on top of the plane...

When I was seeing Wicked, during Popular when Galinda is supposed to throw her wand offstage and say "oh just wear the frock, it's pretty" she threw it over her shoulder backwards and messed up the throw so it went into the wing and hit a man from stage crew in the face. I even heard in him "ow". I was sitting in the front row right behind the conductor and he couldn't control himself, he started laughing hysterically.

That is one big prop in Drowsy, I can see that happen. It must have been a pain to get it all straightened out. I read the bed gets stuck sometimes and the trap door at the Marquis has gotten stuck also.

The last time I saw Wicked, when Glinda called after Fiyero as he was running off during Thank Goodness, she called him Derrek.

In Little Shop of Horrors' tour stop in Palm Springs, after "Somewhere That's Green", the Skid Row drop stuck about halfway as it came up for "Closed for Renovation." It stayed there for a long time -- so much that Seymour actually looked up at it for a second and shrugged. After about ten minutes watching flashlights pass back and forth above the curtains, it finally came up about halfway through "Dentist!", causing the entire audience to applaud.

When I saw Hairspray it was Blake Hammond as Edna and Shannon Durig as Tracy-the scene when he is sauppose to say "Tracy-hold mama's chicken and waffles" he didnt have the bag and he said it "Tracy hold..." and Shannon said "Your hand? Want me to hold your hand?" and he said "Sure since im to bad of an actor to remember to get my props!" the audience went nuts and so did the cast.

That Carol Blooper was priceless. I remember not being able to dance with my date because I lost so much weight, I was afraid I'd lose the skirt I was wearing.

Loved that guy, falling on the floor laughing, that was just a great reaction. Carol seemed a little uneasy, not her usual ease but luckily that guy was there to lighten the moment. You always are suppose to pretend it was suppose to happen. The older Actors though seemed like they were hurtin' in trying to do any of the dance numbers though.

Didn't LBB's shoe fly off into the audience during a performance? She mentioned that at the Drama Desk brunch thing, and I was wondering if anyone was there for it.

I LOVE the 'Putting It Together' blooper. Barrowman's reaction is even better than Carol's skirt falling down. He's SUCH a queen. re: show bloopers

I worked as an usher/theatrical member at Mary Poppins and I can honestly say I saw the show over 100 times.

One night the gate that comes out during one of the first scenes where Bert does his screeving fell off the track it was supposed to roll in on. One of the stage crew guys literally walked on, came and fixed it and walked right off...with workboots headset and everything. It was HILARIOUS because he was so insanely out of place.

Also, the whole "Disney magic" feeling was completely destroyed one night when Mary is singing "Practically Perfect" her bed appears out of nowhere and she just throws a blanket over it. The whole illusion that its supposed to portray is that the bed magically appears under the blanket. The actress who was playing Jane Banks didn't unravel the sheet all the way so you could see the springboard/contraption underneath the set where the bed rises up and it totally messed up the whole magical moment.

yeah, roseaddams, when "little shop" stopped in nashville a few years ago, that same skid row drop didnt come down fully after one scene and while the girls were doing a scene in the front, we were watching the crew change the store set up (renovation) and it was so distracting. weird how that's almost the same thing as what you saw!
this isnt really a blooper, but its SO COOl and funny and about the same night of the same production of little shop. that night at the start of the show, they announced over the loudspeaker that an understudy (lets call her amy smith) would go on for one of the girls, (lets say chiffon) and then at intermission right before the second act started they announced "for the second act tonight, amy smith will play the roles of BOTH Chiffon and Crystal.) literally another one of the girls had decided she couldnt go on for the second act she was so sick. so the understudy played BOTH roles opposite the one remaining girl, singing both of their parts (it would go "Look out!" from the one girl left and then "Look out, look out" from the understudy!!) and all the choreography was lopsided as there were only two of them. they were off center when they rose up behind mushnik's shop to sing "meek shall inherit." can you imagine being an understudy and playing two roles at once?? i wonder what she did for the three-part harmony songs! she did SUCH a valiant job though, i should go look up who it was. PROPS TO HER!

another blooper i've seen was in the national tour of "Annie" last year, an actress playing a nanny with a stroller was supposed to walk up in front of the "in one" drop of the warbucks mansion and it would rise and she would enter the house, but the drop didnt rise for a full 30 seconds, and she stood there in front of the house with the orchestra plugging along, until she was let in. hilarious

I went to see Seven Brides For Seven Brothers when it came to the PaperMill Playhouse and it was at the part when Adam was about to show Millie the house they were going to live in...As it was coming forward on the track the curtain got stuck on the left side of the house...So the you couldn't really see the house and Adam says to Millie as they are standing right in front of the house "I can't wait for you to see the house" and Millie says "Yea me too, I can't wait to see it" Once the stage crew realized what happened someone came out and moved the curtain...It was really cute!

And it finally happened tonight- at the end of "Whipped into Shape" one of the jump ropes came flying downstage, missed the conductor, and landed about third row orch. And then Laura Bell asked for it back from the stage at the end of the show- that was hilarious.

When I saw LB during previews, someone (I think maybe Leslie Kritzer) dropped her jump rope and did the rest of the number pretending she had one. And Anakela, I understand why LBB asked for it back. I went backstage once after the show and all the jump ropes are custom made to fit the actors. Some of them are as close as a half inch difference!

During Wicked in Chicago, a prerecorded wizard's voice came in over One Short Day. Didn't affect anything, but the audience was kinda, "what the hell was that?". When I saw Thoroughly Modern Millie on Broadway, Angela Christian's wig came partially off when she took off her hat. She and Millie (matinee, so no Sutton) could barely keep it together.

Henry, I don't believe Kritzer is in the jumprope scene....but that's interesting about the jumpropes, I had no idea!
