Is anyone else getting a little tired of the morons who feel the need to make up an account that is almost identical to someone else’s, stealing their avatar and pretending to discredit the other person?

Here's the thread to out those folks.

Already we have RUthnait62 posing as Rathnait62 and ZeitUOjo posing as Zeitoujo.

Have I missed anyone else?

Yesterday, someone made a screen name- SweetQntheLights (which mine is not) and used my avatar.

He/she was banned after I made that request.

I missed that one.

I guess we are going to have to be rather vigilant in double checking the names AND their posting status before we reply.

"I guess we are going to have to be rather vigilant in double checking the names AND their posting status before we reply."

Indeed. As this doesn't seem like something that can be prevented, sadly.

Was this accidentally posted on the wrong board?

God forbid we use anything as radical as... well, you know (gasp!) actual names instead of these sometimes silly handles.

Those 'sometimes silly handles' are a safety valve - and an apparent necessary one in today's society.

As to the dopplegangers - it's pathetic, but ultimately only reflects their own idiocy.

I WAS going to answer back as D.G., but I thought that would take too much time....

Dowypop was the worst. A few night ago he/she posted about thirty new threads in five minutes about well I don't think I can post what they were.

Great topic! I do recall seeing "Dowypop" under several thread headings. Do you think it's a single culprit? Either way, I bet he/she/they is/are enjoying the fact that he/she/they are a subject of a thread right now.

how do we know the people who claim they are the originals are really the real peoples and the fakers are the real guys?

I forgot about Dowypop...

You can tell by the posting status. If it's someone you KNOW has been here a while but suddlenly they are listed as an 'Understudy' or whatever the lowest posting rating is, then it's a fake.

Also, double check if they posted something that doesn't sound like them at all, or different typing styles..LiKe ThIs!

Someone made up a nommdeplume, but by the time I saw the thread and clicked on it, the wannabe had been vaporized.

Oddly enough the rest of the posts were there, but it didn't make any sense.

It's likely one of the O.T. Board regulars just seeking attention with the usual bad behavior.

Jenna Haze scared me.

She took over the boards- and we all huddled in that one thread till the coast was clear.

Admittedly, some of these can be quite funny in that they alleviate some of the slower days around here. I know most wouldn't agree, but the ones that aren't so expletive are slightly crafty. And before anyone starts loading the ammo or adjusting their sights, I've been impersonated as well so I do know the feeling, but I take it all in with a light attitude.
