This is a serious question.

The expression is tossed about, but seriously for who would you shell out cash to watch their reading (or singing) of the phone book?

Norbert Leo Butz. He seems like he'd make it interesting and hilarious.

And I would pay money to see that.

I don't know if this counts, but:

Christine Ebersole as Little Edie.

I am insane but that's a whole other story.

There would have to be some really specific people (I'd have to think about who) and it would have to be pretty cheap for me to pay for someone to read/sing me the phone book.

Oh, and is this person reading just to ME or an audience?
That could help sway my decision too.

Patti LuPone
Angela Lansbury
Barbra Streisand (unless it's 1000$ full priced, which I will not do)

Three ladies that I'd see in anything.

I mean if it were conducted as a regular play. People on stage interpreting the phone book however they saw it fit (music, speech, dance, movement, whatever), with a full audience.

Patti would so belt the whole damn thing.

And then get up and do the chicken dance (or a shot) whenever someone has a Jewish last name.

It would be fab.

Celia Keenan-Bolger. (I'm such a loser.) She's just so damn cute in everything she does! (I'd also bet that she's spell at least one of them in her Olive voice) XD

I'll second Maggie Smith, Victoria Clark, and Michael Cerveris. The spin that man can put on the simple word "No" blows me away.
