Posted: 2/8/07 at 8:26pmThere's a few I own multiples on (Sweeney Todd, Company, Hair, Chess, Chicago) where I basically only listen to one of them always. The only ones I can alternate on are RENT (I listen to OBCR the most, but have listened to soundtrack and German cast recording quite a bit) and Hedwig and the Angry Inch (soundtrack and original cast recording). When I finally get the new Company revival CD I'm sure I'll listen to that primarily, but may go back to the OBCR for a few songs every now and then.

Being the type of collector I am I get every version of every score even though some of them I do not play all that often.
The show I have the most CD recordings of is SOUTH PACIFIC with 10.... 1949 OBC, 1951 OLC, 1958 ST, 1967 LC, 1986 Studio, 1988 London, 1994 JAY, 2000 TV cast, 2001 London and 2005 Concert.
Wow...that's a lot of Shampoo!!
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
