Ive been looking for radio stations on either AM or FM that just broadcast nothnig but songs from Broadway and off Broadway plays, but haven't found any yet. Are they're such radio stations?

Nothing on the AM/FM dial. Sirius and XM both have showtunes stations, though.

I agree with the last response... and highly recommend subscribing to one of them!

Based on my observations (my last car had XM, new Passat has Sirius), the XM channel (ch29) seems to skew a lot older with less 70s 80s and 90s Broadway, but a lot more 30s-60s.

Sirius (ch 77) seems to play more Rent, Wicked, L5Y, etc, in addition to Chorus Line, JC Superstar, et al. Seth Rudetsky (sp?) is fun too...

Both are good, but I seem to find more I wanna listen to on the Sirius channel. (Actually I seem to have found that I like Sirius OVERALL quite a bit more than XM.)

I second the pick of Sirius over XM.
Other than the fees, the wires and antennas can be a hassle, but well worth it just for the channel 77 alone, but there's also lots more there to interest anyone, and on most channels, including 77, no commercials.

I'm usually a fan of Sirius's "Broadway's Best" station but lately they play something from Sweet Charity at least once every hour. Has anyone else noticed that? They're more of a Broadway Station for the masses and aren't catered to really theatre fans. But I'm pretentious.

I haven't noticed that. I think they play a good mix, old and new. They do repeat around the clock, and on weekends but that's ok. (Sara Gettelfinger's "Oklahoma" from DRS is on right now!) I also like Seth's interviews. Sutton Foster was on a couple weeks ago. (Ethel Merman's "Some People" from Gypsy is on now.)

Every saturday and sunday you can listen to the link below to a live broadway music show. In Boston it's on the radio, but if you're somewhere else, just click on the link and listen!

AOL Radio has XM on Broadway. I know that they are offering a lot of AOL for free now so you might want to check out AOL and check it out.

So Sweet Charity isn't for the real theatre fans? Wtf? Charity's score is by one the best composers of all time. Cy Coleman. An underrated genius, many consider him even better than Sondheim. Also the show was created by the amazing Bob Fosse for the incredible Gwen Verdon.

How Sweet Charity not for the real theater fans? I don't get it.

In major markets around the country, radio stations are adding second channels for people with HD radios. Many public radio stations that have eliminated or reduced their classical music broadcasts will be using these 2nd channels to bring back the classical music they used to play. You may want to check with your local public radio station to see what their plans are and put in a request that they carve out at least a little time for show tunes. Remember they are member driven.

Clear Channel has a web site set up where people can sample a lot of the new formats that are being rolled out. The site includes a show tunes channel, but I find it highly unlikely this format will ever be broadcast full time even on an HD subchannel. Possibly in New York, but there's just not a large enough audience anywhere else.

In NYC, there's a cable tv station that plays nothing but show tunes.

Yup, channel 837, it used to be 836.

There's also a free internet Broadway radio on www.accubroadway.com.
