I know there is always lots of talk about how CATS has no plot and its a pointless show, but is it fun to be in? I was wondering because I might have the chance to be in it soon.

It's as fun to be in as it is to see re: Audition for CATS? I know lots of people who have been in it. I sure hope you get your chance.

"It's as fun to be in as it is to see"

Wow! It must be awful to be in then.

Anyway, that being said, I hope you get the part if you really want it.

I recently saw the new Troika tour of Cats, having not seen the show since 1992 on Broadway (though I know it quite well), and my first reaction for the first half hour was "wow, this show really does have no point." Which is not to say that it doesn't have a plot -- but not one that makes any kind of sense. I just kept wondering what anyone in the theatre who didn't know the show must be thinking. And how on earth it managed to convince people that it was worth seeing for 17 years. But later in the show I actually started kind of enjoying myself in some way. The cast was very talented and enthusiastic, so it was entertaining at least. I don't think I would pay to see it, but I was excited to see it for free.

I've never done it, but I think it would be far more entertaining to work on than to see.

It's fun to be in any production. Cats, I think, is really fun to be in, also, with all these dance moves and such.

I just got done producing a production of CATS and was also a part of the cast. I have to be honest in that when it was determined we were doing the show I listened to the cast recording and thought to myself 'WHY'? After being in it I would say it was a wonderful experience and I actually like the music and would say I had more fun doing this production than any I have ever been a part of.

But the experience is only as good as your fellow actors and your director and choreographer. In my case I worked with a stellar cast and wonderful production staff.
