Has anyone seen this show? I bought the cd when I was in Berlin last week and LOVE IT. I went to the theater to see if I could see the show, but it was a Monday night and they had no performace. Just curious if people have seen it and what their thoughts were...

the show is the biggest crap. Way toooooo long and the book makes no sense. The set is pretty and the costumes are gorgous though. An expensive piece of ****. but good for the eyes.

Doubt this is the same one as the Kerry Butler/Laura Bell Bundy duet "Any Day" is from. Right?

Yes, it's a Dutch show that transfered to Germany in 2005. It has nothing to do with the Butler/Bundy production.

It think the show is far from crap!
It's true that the book is weak and quite confusing but I REALLY enjoyed this show.
The performances were great and there are some really wonderful songs and, as clarky mentioned, the visuals are stunning.
Too bad it had such low attendance numbers...

Is this the one with music by George Stiles (JUST SO, HONK, the blah new songs from MARY POPPINS)?

Thanks! I was scouring the website and didn't see Stiles's name, so I wasn't sure.

It sounds like it would have been an experience anyway. Thanks for the opinions all. :)

I've seen the show a couple of months ago and have to say that it's not very good. After all it has a good set design (though I only have other german productions to compare). The music was the same pop stuff they allways want to heare in Germany - Showtune simply doesn't exist in their vocabulary. Worst example, in my experience: "Engel aus Kristall"...
The biggest problem, though, was that they talked with a strong american accent, allthough they ARE NO americans!!! They allways do it here - WHY???
All things considered it's very professinal, but not really good. Loud sound and a lot of special effects can't make you forget the bad music, the crappy book and the (good dancing and good singing, but) badly acting "Musicaldarsteller" (Musical actor), as it is called here...

I'm the german Ethel Merman, don't you know... ;-)

I love the cast recording...

Well, I guess if you enjoy the music you will also enjoy the show (despite its lackluster book)!

Actually whoever enjoys this is not allowed to critizise Lestat or Tarzan, because it is worse than that.
