I disagree. I'm still amazed at how much more I enjoyed the show at Music Circus. La Jolla was just not great in my opinion. I think the addition of a deaf performer, and the staging in the round, made it much more interesting. I don't think it would run for years on Broadway, but I think a limited run would work great.
Sorry, to clarify, nothing was rewritten or added. Cuts were made, with permission, and direction/staging has improved a lot of the things I disliked in the La Jolla production. The Saint Aphrodisius scene for example. Also, the way the gargoyles are costumed and staged throughout the show. The fact that it's in the round even makes it more interesting.
