Sometime last week (I don't remember what day), I remember Piazza being on the board, discount 35%. Didn't see Q, but I do see it up there from time to time.
I believe that this: http://www.entertainment-link.com/tkts.asp is the best site, let me give you advice using it, plan by the week, so dont say oh look Avenue Q was up yesterday, say was it up one week ago.
Doubt was occasionally up there over the summer at 25% off even when it was doing great business and the original cast were in. So with the numbers they've had recently, I wouldn't be surprised if it were on the boards more.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.
Don't forget though, this past weekend was a holiday weekend, and for some odd reason NYC schools are closed this week. The shows are more crowded so many might not show up at tkts.
I think Sweeney's pretty consistently up there, so it probably will be. I'm going this Saturday and then again on Tuesday, and I'm hoping I'll get Sweeney both times. I don't think last week is very indicative of its availability; I tend to see it on the board a lot.
This may be a dumb question and I appologize for not knowing but what is the difference between South Street Seaport and Duffy Square tkts? Do they offer the same show discounts? Why would one choose one over the other? How far is the South Street Seaport one from Times Square?
Edit: Is it true that if I go and buy tickets for a Friday evening show, I can't buy tickets for Saturday matinee at the same time?

The Seaport TKTS is all the way downtown. Take a train to Fulton St. and head towards the SS Seaport and there'll be a sign pointing you over to TKTS. The lines are ususally much shorter at the Seaport TKTS. And yes, they sell matinee tix the day before. A nice little perk!
But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)
fyi every time I've seen Q on the tkts board, it has been at 35% (never 50%). The last time I saw it up there was maybe two/three weeks ago. Also, though, this week is apparently Spring Break for a good chunk of people, so that'll possibly cut into what is/isn't available this week.
I'd also be curious how St. Patrick's Day will be on the attendance for shows. Will there be more people in the city, hence tougher to get a ticket, or will everyone be at pubs and bars, so TKTS/rush lines would be dead?? Dunno.
And as far as Sweeney for Friday goes, from what I gather, they only have rush Tuesday-Thursday, so I don't think you'd be able to get tix for Friday's show. Also, I'm pretty sure the $36 rear mezz seats are already sold out (I'd checked Sunday, I think, for Friday and both shows Saturday and there was only one pair in the last row all the way to the side for the Saturday mat).

Do you know when they post it on the tkts website? Is it much later in the day- after the matinee is over?
I wonder how long the long the line will be around 12:30. My friend and I may go do a lotto or something but if we don't win, we may want to go to tkts...I hope the line won't be miles long...:-/

Tourists usually begin to queue as early as 6:30 or 7 am on a matinee day (especially Saturday). By the time the window opens at 10 am, the line is huge.
The best thing to do is wait until an hour before showtime and go then. The line will be considerably shorter (if there is a line at all) and you'll still have a good deal to choose from usually.
mef- I was thinking about that... thats why I said 12:30 but I guess there still could be a line. Yesterday, I was walking from the restaurant to Spelling Bee where I had standing room tickets and I walked past tkts around 7:10 and took a double look when I saw nobody was there! I was surprised! I think I will do that if we don't win the lotto for matinee today.
Thanks

I, too, have had good luck getting on-line abiut 7:45 pm during the week. I never go on Saturday so I don't know about that. It amazes me that tourists who are in NY for only a few days spend hours and hours on line for a ticket (in 35 degree weather, no doubt).
I have another suggestion: right now, Broadway Box has tickets for Avenue Q for $66.25. Print the page and take it to the box office and be done with it (no on-line service charge that way). You'll get a better seat and have your whole day free. And, if TKTS is only giving a 35% discount, with the service charge, TKTS is actually more than the Broadway Box discount. And you can use a credit card at the box office.
I always look for on-line offers first, it may be a few dollars more but the time and effort saved is well worth it. http://www.broadwaybox.com
