Caroline or Change#0
Posted: 6/1/04 at 11:50pm
I saw Caroline this weekend with my lov-ah (and no friends from Pittsburgh or red-headed priests), and loved it. I was mixed after the first act but came to fully love it by the final curtain. I know some might criticize it for too much exposition, but Jeanine's music was masterful.

Just my two cents.

Kushner and Tesori do make a good pair.
Jeanine Tesori is very talented.
She won a Drama Desk this year. Caroline is terrific.

Now if only Tesori and Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez could work together. Think of the possibilities!

Corine's heard it. She went to the concert performance of the score and has been its biggest cheerleader since she was Millie's biggest cheerleader but before she was Avenue Q's biggest cheerleader. Now she hopes they will bring Violet to Broadway to please Kramer.

Well Namo-
I took a friend of mine to that concert.
It is his favorite Tesori, and after seeing it I agreed with him.
But I love all of her work.
Tesori is talented. Don't you agree?

Let's bow our heads for a moment of silence to honor the great Mr. Stefano.

Did anyone else read that biography about him? VERY interesting stuff.

Speaking of that book, Wonder Bread and Ecstasy...just wanted to point out that it was written by Charles Isherwood, lead legit critic of Variety.

The little I know about Violet makes me curious to see it. It sounds like an interesting show.
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

MatthewAddison - To answer your question, I love the CD of Violet. It's one of my favorite scores to listen to. I haven't seen the show, but the story is compelling. "I Am on My Way" and "The Luck of the Draw" will have you humming along. The score has a bit of a 50s bluegrass flavor to it with some touches of gospel. It is a definite gem in any musical theatre collection.
