"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
I think it's more like most of the theater nerds in NYC have seen ITW and tourists probably aren't that interested. I'd imagine it does well Thanksgiving-New Years though.
ITW continues to maintain higher asking price points until a day or two before performance even when huge swaths of the orchestra and mezzanine sit unsold. Must be the producers' strategy.

The midweek performance I saw a few weeks ago was so charmless and over-the-top compared to my previous visit at City Center that I've stopped recommending it. That said, from the conversations I overheard, it seemed that most people near me in the center orchestra were out-of-towners.

It’s interesting we’re questioning the long term viability of shows making well over a million dollars a week
KPOP and Almost Famous are just sad.

I would say that for many new shows. I know I saw Topdog/Underdog last week and, not only the rush seat was $200+ front row ticket, but the entire rear Mezz was closed and everyone moved down to front.
For KPOP to have that number with a production of that complexity and size is REALLY bad.
For “A Strange Loop” it seems to be holding its own - I’ve noticed weekdays are far less attended than the weekends. It’s also a SUPER easy rush.

''Into the Woods'' had a really big grop, but they are closing in two months and the holidays are in the corner, it will be a beautiful run anyway.
How much is the weekly nut for ''Kimberly''? I remember the last musical there, ''Next to Normal'', was something around 200k, but that was a decade ago.
''Almost Famous'' and ''KPOP'' will only last past New Years if their producers have really big pockets.
I'd give KPop a bit more time before declaring it anything. I mean, look at Gent's Guide. That show was on the major struggle bus until it snagged the Tony.
Of note, Almost Famous has only been playing 6 shows a week and it looks like K-Pop did this week as well. Their numbers aren't terrible with that in mind and the fact that a lot of people got $19 preview tickets to K-Pop
One reason Into the Woods had that drop is because the original extension went through October 16th. I'll be curious to see if this last extension will continue to be (relatively) quiet until the holidays.
Alexander Lamar said: "What was the reason gross potential isn’t being calculated (or shared)?"
Same question. My guess as to why they aren’t sharing it is because gross potential fluctuates so much. I think it was Harry Potter someone here brought up as an example. It’s gross potential would be so low in comparison to holiday weeks. The show was hitting 100% of its selling potential, but was arguably losing money in order to do so.
