Big aficionado of foreign cast recordings and this is a dream! Would love to see this done with other shows. Les Miz has some beautiful recordings. I could also see more Webber ones - I’d kill for Sunset, Joseph, and Evita especially! I wonder how difficult this was to license- or maybe Webber kept a large stake in the recordings.

I’ve read elsewhere that the “new recording” of the title track is just the click track they use in the show.

I’d love a Sunset one as well. So much material to mine and so many Normas.

If I’m not mistaken, a click track is literally just series of audio clicks to synchronize the orchestra with the pre-recorded vocal, or in some shows to synchronize with video or projection elements. If they released the actual click track it wouldn’t be very interesting to listen to.

Correct. The voice track, or larry track ( short for laryngitis) sycns to the click, or SMPTE, track.
