Hello there.  Excited to get to NYC this weekend.  Was disappointed to lose "A Strange Loop", but have the following on tap:

TAKE ME OUT
FUNNY GIRL
COMPANY
THE MINUTES

Noticed a couple of older favorites have Sunday evening performances & thinking about adding one:  "Phantom" (5pm) or "Wicked" (7pm).   haven't seen either in 10+ years.

Any thoughts on which of these holds up better these days?  IAnd is "Phantom" really an option given my afternoon show is scheduled to end at 4:30.  Could I even get from 54th to 44th in 30 minutes if my earlier show is running a tad late?

Appreciate your thoughts.

I have no opinions to over about show choice. (I don't like Phantom, and haven't seen Wicked since my kids were little) but you could make a 5pm show.  A ten block walk isn't that big of a deal - you can do it in less than 15 minutes EASILY (You could make it in ten, if you really booked it).   Remember, a 5 pm show isn't going to start at 5 but closer to 5:10 anyway.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Thanks.  Kinda what I figured, but if the first one runs late...  You know the drill.

I've seen both Phantom and Wicked recently (in February) and I don't think you could go wrong with either. The casts in both are top notch right now and I believe that  the shows do hold up well, admittedly, I wasn't around when either were new! I would say that it depends on what kind of show you want to see, Wicked is definitely lighter, Phantom is well, Phantom. My personal opinion is that Lindsay Pearce and Brittney Johnson in Wicked are not to be missed, but whichever show you end up choosing will be worthwhile.

Love them both & I've seen them both multiple times, but it's been YEARS.  Just thought it might be fun to visit an "old friend".  Thanks for your thoughts on this.  Sounds like either would be great.

You can't go wrong with Phantom or Wicked. I've seen both since their reopenings and both have held up well.

Here in NYC I normally estimate 1 minute per street block and 3 minutes per avenue block. I think most people can definitely walk from studio54 to the Majestic in less than 15 minutes.

Good luck with your decision!

I've never seen Phantom so can't comment on that but I saw Wicked last week and Lindsay Heather Pearce and Brittney Johnson are both incredible and well worth the visit.

See Phantom. Even if it stays open, we don't know how long the Harold Prince version will stay with us.
