I realize there are going to be a variety of personal opinions here, but thought I would try this anyway.  I have room for 2 more shows during my April visit, and torn between Six, Girl from North Country, and Company.  Which 2 of these do you recommend?

I already have tickets to Funny Girl, Mrs. Doubtfire, Plaza Suite, and the Music Man, and I've seen most of the other big shows.

Any strong preferences one way or the other over those shows?  It's worth noting that I do have season tickets to a few theaters in my local area, so I will also see any show that eventually goes on tour.  I'm assuming Six and Girl from North Country will go on tour.  Not sure about Company.

You have a great list!

We are coming for the holidays so Funny Girl and Plaza Suite won't be playing yet. I guess it depends on if you are a big Dylan fan? I'd go with Company and Six if you can get Six at a decent price. For our upcoming trip, Six ticket prices are crazy. So that may be out unless we get lucky with the lottery. Have fun!

COMPANY is a no brainer. You’ll likely never see a production like it again.

As for the other two, I loved GTFNC, but I’m not sure if it will last until your trip. Meanwhile, SIX is guaranteed to last until then, but the tickets are obscenely expensive and I didn’t really feel I got my money’s worth. It felt like it belonged off-Broadway and the show sagged toward the end.

Company is an absolute must see. It is such a special production of a very special show. This cast also demands to be seen.

Not a question in my mind here: Company. It is a landmark production with a historic cast and it's absolutely pitch-perfect. I do think if you miss this one, you will regret it.

Six is fun, but will likely in NYC for many, many years, and the cast is great but there will surely be great queens in the future, too (and as you said, will most certainly go on tour). I loathed GFTNC and thought it was a depressing bore of a show.

Wow, thanks everyone.  I was considering dropping Company, but now I will definitely get tickets.  Thanks for your input!  I will wait a bit to decide between Six and GFTNC.  Prices for Six are outrageous right now.  I don't mind paying top price for great shows, but for some reason that seems high for that show.

GFTNC over Six any day. You won't get much more at the Six performance than you would from listening to the cast recording. GFTNC is absolutely exquisite.

I'd be shocked if Girl from the North Country is still open in April. If Six is your only other second option, I'd recommend getting tickets now. April tickets just went on sale the other day, so, regardless of how outrageous you think the prices are, they won't be going down, and your seat options will just be worse if you wait. Sure, the premium seats are overpriced, but there are plenty of cheaper options throughout the theatre. I sat in row E of the mezzanine, and I thought it was a perfect view.

I wish I could see Company!

As others have said, GFTNC will likely be closed by April so your decision may be made for you.

I’ve seen both GFTNC & Six. Was underwhelmed by both. My personal opinion of both:

GFTNC:

PROs: Very talented cast. I’m not necessarily the biggest fan of Dylan, but his songs arguably have never sounded better with this talented cast.

CONs: The book/story/plot felt pretty muddled. And I struggled to find how the songs connected to the story.

Six:

PROs: Insanely vocally talented cast. Catchy songs. Fun.

CONs: if you’ve ever been to a big pop diva’s concert, this is likely to feel like a “lite” version of that. Given the lack of plot and the short running time, tickets are pretty pricey (although I get all the reasons why they are). For me, it didn’t live up to the hype. If you opt for this show, my advice is to skip the expensive orchestra seats and sit in cheaper mezzanine seats. I sat MEZZ, Row E, Seat 6 (Perfect!).

Couple of other unsolicited suggestions:

  1. Wait and see what else is open in April or catches your eye and then try to secure tickets using a discount code, TKTS, rush or digital lottery.
  2. Skip seeing a show for this time slot altogether and instead having a nice leisurely, relaxing meal and/or do something else like go to a museum.
