Just came from the 12/31 matinee we were in rear mezz row E aisle right behind a little stage where dancers cane around. We got a dumpling and shaker. Highly recommend for $99!
Saw the Tuesday matinee. Was not on my radar at all, hubby recommended it. Wanted to see if for Danny Burstein since he was lively in Cabaret in 2014. Sadly, Danny was out for the matinee, his understudy the was good though. Loved the show, hope it tours to LA!
Went today. Huge line at 9:30, went to TKTS 30% off even bigger line. Went back to box office just after 10. No rush tickets sold today. Bought my tix on TodaysTix fir the matinee. Danny Burstein was out. Still a great show! Good luck!
Yes, I've read great things about Cynthia Erivo's performance in the Color Purple but we saw it a few years back when it was in LA so was thinking of skipping it for something new.
Yeah, Tuesday morning I was going to line up for cronuts but am thinking I should either be at TKTS or the theatres for rush tickets. Sadly TKTS won't sell evening show tickets until 3:00 pm. When we went in 2014 they would sell evening tickets when t

HBBrock-whoops! Front row dead center is what the husband got. If it's only one seat the conductor is blocking I think it will be ok. I'll put him there since he is tall. We are so excited to be seeing this the first night we get into town!
I am in a real quandary now! I do plan on seeing Matilda but since it's coming to LA at the Ahmanson (pretty big stage)I thought it was safe to see the touring company. Now it's been suggested that the touring show won't have as big of a cast or presence. I'm having enough trouble dropping one show already !
I'm listening to the cast album of Hedwig now! We really loved the movie. Husband just thinks JCM did such a great job with the film and he doesn't trust Dexter to pull it off.
Making discoveries is 1/2 the fun. He really wants to see what else is playing at the Public and Signature. He also wanted to check out BAM for the piece Pina is doing. I like dance but not sure I like it that much!

gleek4114 sadly we leave on the 26th Side Show does look wonderful!
Thanks for the vote for If/Then. Tastes are so subjective. I think we are open to a lot of things and don't always just love the mega hits. I read on another board about why people leave the theatre and people in LA did not care for Marjorie Prime, we saw it a couple of weeks ago, and while we did not love it, we enjoyed it and it made us think
You Can't Take it With You is def on our list so it Cabaret.
Husband is rooting to drop If/Then now especially after hearing the board or Hedwig. I'm not about to give Hedwig up though!

"Is the front row too close for this? "
When are you planning to go? We got front row tix for Saturday, the 18th, the night we come in and debated on where to sit. I know that you lose the whole stage visual in a big show but we love seeing the actors up close and the orchestra so I hope not!

Oh my goodness. Why aren't we in New York for 2 weeks?
Ok, Kinky Boots-tour
If/Then does sound totally divisive among the board. I have never seen Cabaret so I am looking forward to it. Curious Incident is one of my favorite books and I'm re-reading it now.
Dreaming-I hear you about not planning things too much and just enjoy and let things happen. I need to practice that more!
I really appreciate you taking the time out to respond and it's interesting to see differing opinions on some of the shows.
It sounds like I should just see the touring company of Kinky Boots and stick to my list. It also sounds like I should drop If/Then anyways. Although some suggested dropping Cabaret (I heart Alan Cumming-he's delicious in The Good Wife) or Gentleman's Guide. Perhaps another question should have been if I should add anything. I was deb
Long time lurker and first time poster. I've read the boards off and on for the last couple of years. When we went to New York in 2012, we used to board to plan out our shows. We are coming again next Saturday for a week and we are so excited!
A little background, we are in Los Angeles and love attending shows and go at least once a month.
We have the following planned for our upcoming trip:
It's Only a Play (bought tix already) On the Town (bou
