Current Release Status Of Aladdin Filmed In West End?

Hey,

I'm just wondering if anyone's heard about the current release status of Aladdin filmed in the West End?

There are rumors that The Mouse has shelved it indefinitely, so I'm just curious what's going on with it?

Just to refresh everyone, it was supposed to be released late last year in December (we know this because of the leaked release page), but was delayed/cancelled before it was made official.

I'm not one of those people that starts petitions about things like this, as any company has a right to do what they please with their releases, but I'm just curious why they made this very close to last minute decision to delay/cancel it?

They obviously invested money, and time into it, and did the research beforehand that it's something they really wanted to do, so what changed at the last minute? Fears of cannibalizing the future profits of the stage show? Lack of satisfaction into the final outcome of the filming quality/how it translated to film? Controversy around one of the actors in it (none that I'm aware of)?

If it is indeed cancelled indefinitely, can anyone think of something similar of another project at this late stage of the game (fully produced, and almost released)?

Where did you hear it was shelved indefinitely? I seriously doubt they'll do that at this stage, it was even promoted (by mistake) on Apple TV and cast members started giving out hints on it in interviews (last year)

It was floated around on a Reddit thread that it was cancelled indefinitely (or at least that is where I first heard the rumour).

Personally, I think Disney is keeping it in their back pocket and releasing it when they need. I don't know what their scheduled releases are, but this could be something to publicize when they need content like this.

Pedantic yes. Forgive me! But...it’s IN the West End and ON Broadway.

To my knowledge, it still exists, has been edited and is more or less ready to go whenever/however they choose to release it. I've been told it's still planned as a release but I've got no information past that.
