I know that in some theaters it is not a good idea to sit in the first few rows because the people will need to put their heads back because at high level they will be staring at the wall below the stage.

What do people think of the first four rows of the Bernard Jacobs?  I have been there but honestly don't recall ever sitting in those rows.

If you were going to see a show like Company there, would it be better to sit farther back?  Yes I know everything is closed.  I am planning for the future.

I saw this version of Company. I would sit center front mezz if you can. We were front mezz off to one side. It wasnt bad, only missed like 30 seconds of something.

brdway411, you suggested sitting in the mezz.  Are you saying that none of the seats in the Orchestra are good?  What are your thoughts on the first four rows of the center  orchestra?  Would you pick the mezz over center orchestra?

All of our subscription seats are in the front mezz center. I like to be up higher to see the lighting patterns on the stage. Things tend to sound better up higher. There is more room for the sound to mix. I dont see the need to be in the first 4 rows. Also, sitting in the mezz you can see the whole set and don't have to act like you are at a tennis match turning your head to follow the action. You asked for an opinion. I have seen the show. That's where I would sit.

Subscription? This isn’t a subscription-based theater.

For Ferryman last year, I sat front row center in orchestra and it was GREAT! Stage wasn't high and best legroom in the house. I felt like I was literally inside their house observing the play. In other words, the first 4 rows at the Jacobs is fine.

I haven't seen this production of COMPANY yet at the Jacobs though so other seats may be better.

I saw Company from the second row and definitely felt way too close.

Blaxx, which range or rows in center orchestra would you suggest?  What I mean is what is the farthest you would go back and and at what row would you start?  Since 2 is too close would you start at 4, 5, 6 or something farther?

I know the Jacob's isn't a subscription based theater but all the Roundabouts are American airlines, studio 54, the Sondheim (when it doesn't have a tenant,) the laura pels .  Lincoln center is, the met is. . All of my subscription seats are front mezz second row center. Or equivalent depending on the theater.

The OP asked where people like to sit. I saw this production third preview (free tickets from friends). If I were seeing this again, I would want to sit front mezz center where all of my subscription seats are in other theaters.
If you had bothered to read the rest of the posts in this chain you would see what was discussed. This is why I stopped trying to help people here. No one reads the complete thread and just jump on something they were not part of from the beginning

So OP sit where you want but I am sticking with front mezz second row center.
