What a load! Jeff Bezos, single handedly took on the tiny New York monopolistic publishing industry, and has now given new talented authors from all over the world the opportunity to have their voice heard. Gone is the monopolistic lockout of talented authors. Now we have millions of new books from people everywhere, from all walks of life. More than that: Bezos has given tens of thousands of new business people and startups the opportunity to market their new products nationally. In the old days, you go to a bricks and mortar retailer and they hit you with shelf space fees, then demand you to advertise in their ad papers;they tell you we will only try your product your product for a couple of months and then we'll see. And of course you are facing huge corporations who dominate whole aisles in stores. If you get on a shelf, they'll place your product on the bottom. Seen that. Done that. This man Bezos is a pioneer. He changed business forever. Now new people are welcomed and encouraged. It is now that those businesses who lost out because they sneered at the internet when it first came out, and many mom and pops who decided to take a pass on internet marketing or even to have their own web sites; these are the ones complaining. I was in a hobby shop about three months ago. I asked the owner why he does not import products or market products on his own web site. His response was, "I'd rather get them from the distributor." Those are the old days my friend. Those who do not change and keep up with progress are left behind. Thanks to Bezos, millions are now profiting and participating in the new internet economy. Granted, PBS suckered a lot of people with their biased reporting. But there are always people like me who will reveal the full story, not a hatchet job by PBS Frontline.
That is your opinion, my friend, and certainly not that of the millions of business entrepreneurs and startups who are now enjoying the accomplishment of introducing a new products nationally - thanks to Bezos. The system rewards those with ambition and creativity. Life is good!

If you think a multi Billion dollar company paying $0 in federal income tax, while WE pay more is awesome and "life is good" then I pray for you. And I'm an Atheist.

Ugh, I feel stupid for falling for it thinking it was another poster! Jeez they need to get a life and find something better to do until Mom calls them upstairs from the basement for dinner.
Obviously, the problem here is attempting to explain business to people who have limited experience in business. Personally, I have been involved in no less than seven businesses, from small to medium and beyond. My experience extends to high positions such as plant manager and QC manager and owner of several startups. I'd like to ask those who attack the messenger, "How many businesses have you started? Have you ever gone to a large bricks and mortar retailer and attempted to introduce a product to them and face the incredible resistance, all the things I enumerated in my post?" I have. Today I am the benefactor of the huge opportunities created by Jeff Bezos, because my company products are being sold on Amazon and others and my new products and my new company will further enter on line retail sales first through Amazon and Walmart. Thank God for Jeff Bezos. There are people all over the world who have lifted themselves up financially because of him. Today the world of startups begins with online selling. Good luck to all the creative, imaginative new business people who are entering a the era of financial opportunities made possible by people such as Jeff Bezos. You can do it with a quality product that people need. Thanks Jeff.
Bronxdan, with planting season just around the corner, been thinking about getting some tomatoes and maybe a little bibb lettuce going. As an experienced plant manager, do you have a favorite brand of potting soil that you'd recommend?

Could you tell us the company you work for? I want to make sure I never buy a single product from your company.
