In German of course - I love her voice and I **REALLY** love the translated lyrics with their translations back to English.

They recently announced an German production of Frozen and I think it’s a pretty safe bet Willemijn will be the Elsa.

Isn't Willemijn about to do Waitress in the Netherlands? Not saying she's not doing both that and Frozen, just thinking out loud...

Honestly, if I could choose, I'd love seeing Willemijn Verkaik in a German production/transfer of Company as a female Bobby. Not only could she show off her acting a bit more, rather than just belt her face off, she might be able to sing a mean 'Being Alive' at the end.

Frozen won’t start there until 2021. So there is definitely time for her to do both.

She’d be a terrific Elsa. I agree that she’ll likely be doing the German production, however I wouldn’t be opposed to her stepping into the Broadway production at some point.

Her as Bobbie is another wonderful idea - she’d kill it.

She’s already the speaking and singing voice of Elsa in FROZEN and FROZEN II in German and Dutch. If she ended up playing Elsa in a production of the musical it would interesting because it would be the first time a movie Elsa has also been a stage Elsa.

Elsa, Jenna AND Elphaba--wow. If only there was some way for me to get to the Netherlands to see her as Jenna. But it's really cool that she has done all three in some capacity!

Just wanted to mention that the role of Iduna is voiced by Willemijn's Elphaba alternate in both languages! Sabrina Weckerlin was the original alternate in the Stuttgart production and later replaced Willemijn in the Oberhausen production of Wicked, and Renée van Wegberg was the Elphaba alternate for the entire run of the Dutch production.

Pretty off topic, but I didn’t want to make another thread.
I was wondering, for anyone who’s from a country which doesn’t speak English when you see an American made film does it ever get annoying when the dubbing doesn’t match what the characters lips are doing? I understand live action movies can’t really fix this problem, but when it comes to animated films they can at least try to fix the issue. At least for the major markets.

First off, we are growing up with dubbed movies so we are kind of used to the general idea of "the actor I see and the voice I hear are not one and the same". Also, it's not a new thing over here and dubbing studios have become very good at it and it's a whole industry with hundreds of professional voice talents, not really comparable with the american market.

Apart from that, when a film gets localized the dubbing studios don't just translate the dialogues but rewrite the sentences slightly to match up the words with the mouth movements of the actors (for example big vowel shapes and when the mouth closes). Animated movies have gotten very distinct in mimicking the human mouth shapes - so it does actually apply to those, too.

Sometimes, short syllables get mixed together into a time frame where in the original, there was only one word. But most of the time you don't really notice it that much. That is, if it's a well acted movie (both by the original actor and the voice actor).

For those interested, the Dutch 'Waitress' has been postponed (or cancelled), but Willemijn Verkaik will play Beverley Bass in their 'Come From Away'. Here she is singing 'Me and the Sky':

She’s great! Broadway needs more of Willemijn when it reopens. The marketing for the Dutch production doesn’t seem to match the Broadway or west end productions. Is this a stand alone and not a replicated production?

They just released a trailer for the Dutch non-replica production of Come From Away with Willemijn as Beverly Bass:

It looks and sounds good, but I think these 'Come From Away' non-replica productions' differences are too subtle for me, ha. It's still the minimalism and the extensive use of chairs, but just... a different type of chair/stool? The non-replica Swedish production was similar again, to my eye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x320Bok6J_Q.

For those who might care, Willemijn won the Dutch equivalent of a Tony Award for her performance in Come From Away last week.

I hope come from away on Broadway sees this and tries to bring her over for their own production.

And Willemijn and some company members performed Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere/Ver Weg on a Dutch talkshow
