Didn’t someone here post that they accosted her in the coat room at the Marin Mazzin benefit and she noted she had some irons in the fire.

Hopefully Little Dancer. (I don't care for the new title.) I think it would be great at Lincoln Center.

I was the one who accosted. I didn't see this first time through.

I was there because my sweet sister died of the disease 30 years ago, and four days before Gilda Radner died of the same. They tried to be upbeat, but it is kind of astonishing that in 30 years there has been no real progress in early diagnosis or treatment. My sister hadn't been feeling well and for almost a year made the rounds to doctors who told her it was probably nothing but had no more to offer.

Today there's not much more a woman can do. Some have hysterectomies. My sister ended up diagnosing her own cancer when she felt a lump in a lymph  node while packing for the family holiday trip to Disney World. Five months later she was gone.

Sorry for the cancer bit. I actually go back pretty far with Susan, although not personally. I was very excited about the Hal Prince Show Boat coming to New York and was not disappointed. I saw Contact at the Beaumont and the Producers. I did not see the original Crazy for You, I was there for the 25th Anniversary performance. Laura was lovable as usual, and Rachel Bloom was a surprise co-star, but I think that Tony maybe was the key person as he combined expert dancing with a kind of goofy personality that fit the Bobby character.

At this point I should just give up on it and be surprised if it happens. I did bring that up with Susan and she said that it wasn't dead, but they were waiting for a theater. I mentioned that Tony was returning to Broadway in mid-March. She said that she was very happy for him having gotten the role. This new musical named Flying Over Sunset is about the use of LSD of Cary Grant, Clare Boothe Luce and Aldous Huxley. Costars Carmen Cusack and Harry Hadden-Paton. Book and direction by James Lapine. An LCT production to play at the Beaumont. On the surface it doesn't seem like a surefire hit with the masses, but they're probably not expecting a long run.

So the alcohol that allowed me to accost Susan also I think hindered the brilliance of my conversation. I don't think I even brought up this: the Macau production.

She is an extraordinary woman. Not afraid to tackle anything.

She's working on Scottsboro Boys. The pre-broadway tryout was supposed to be happening now but I haven't heard anything about it.

Huh? They’re reviving “Scottsboro Boys”?

In January there was a widely circulated article saying that Susan Stroman would be directing Scottsboro Boys in Alabama near where the actual events occurred. Dates, at least according Playbill, would be sometime in Winter, 2020.

(After that mention of the show disappears, as if it had been sunk by a U-Boat.) Correction, an unknown theater company (unknown to me) starts playing in the South. Don't know whether SS group went on without her, or if different group licensed the rights and decided to cut into the line in front of Susan to get the glory of doing the play in the South)

Here is a local review.

The show closed after two months, I think, or less. So I don't know what they have in mind.
