I foolishly went online this morning, as we were told to do, to purchase ANY tickets I could get for the June 24  Jason Robert Brown/Stephen Sondheim evening. Foolish indeed: I watched them disappear in droves, no matter what I did, and I ended up with nothing. I wrote to Town Hall, who nicely told me to take a hike; they had nothing to do with the event. But Ticketmaster allowed buyers to purchase NO MORE THAN 50 TICKETS APIECE. Well, of course there would be nothing left for us, and surprise, surprise, I could now buy lousy seats on Stubhub for $480 each.

Makes me want to scream, but at whom?

I signed on right at noon and it took me a couple of tries but I only wanted one seat and managed to get one.  But allowing anyone to purchase more than a reasonable number of seats (say - six?) really is not fair when the event is unique and going to be sold out quickly. Fifty? wow -

I got one during today’s release after much stress The only price originally available was $350 (right at the top of my budget) but the app wouldn’t process my order

Finally, I called and got someone over the phone who tells me I can’t use a credit/debit card for orders over the phone and would have to go to the pharmacy to get some sort of crazy Ticketmaster gift card. At this point, I gave up and felt defeated

I checked the app again and got a ticket in the balcony for $203. I’m glad I didn’t spend $350, but that was beyond stressful

Are you sure you reached the official Ticketmaster customer service? Telling you that you had to use a gift card is a typical scammer ploy.

I'm glad it worked out for you in the end!

Looks like the lowest price is $182 without fees for far side back of balcony. Too much for me!

My guess is the 50 ticket limit is not Ticketmaster’s fault but instead the venue or producer.

Yup...the producer's set those perameters.  (I've never heard of one set at 50 however!)

I was able to get one ticket (not in my preferred location) the first day they went on sale.   I paid more for the less desirable seat than I’d originally intended, but thought it was a unique and rare opportunity, so decided to go ahead and make the purchase.

I was disappointed to learn that tickets had been held back and another round would go on sale.   I’ve just looked and better seats are now available.   I’m glad for those who can purchase them, but very disappointed in the way tickets were held back originally, forcing those of us who made purchases on the first (and what we believed would be the only) day they were released to buy less desirable seats.

i know.  First world problems.  But, I don’t like this trend in the way tickets are sold, and Ticketmaster always seems to be in the middle of it.

I am sorry to hear that, quite deceptive/unfair. Especially at these prices and how special/limited this event is.

Anyway, I hope this is recorded in some legal fashion. Very interested to hear what songs Kristina Performs - I would love to be there.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
