Hello everyone,

So I am buying tickets for The Phantom of the Opera and I just want to know the difference between Broadway.com and Telecharge...

Why is Telecharge and Ticketmaster cheaper than Broadway.com?

This is my first time buying tickets for any show. Are companies like Telecharge and Ticketmaster known to give issues to customers? Is it safe?

Why doesn't Broadway.com allow me to pick my own seats like the other companies?

NEVER Broadway.com.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Check BroadwayBox.Com. There are always discount codes available there. Then take that code and use it at Telecharge.

Broadway.com charges astronomical fees that should be illegal. Telecharge and Ticketmaster are the official sites of most Broadway shows, so they are about as safe as you can get, short of buying from the box office. They also charge lots of fees, but not as much as Broadway.com.

Why are the official ticket sellers cheaper than the ticket resellers/scalpers?! That's sort of always the case. Ticketmaster and Telecharge are 100% the original, legit sources. But like Dollypop said, they will only get you to regular price. To get discounts, you need to find the codes.

Sometimes you can also find discounts without a code by going direct to TelechargeOffers.com but you are limited to the shows that are listed on that homepage. That's how I located the Beetlejuice $33.33 offer a couple days ago. I'm not sure if Ticketmaster has an equivalent page but I'm sure someone else here does.

Always shop Ticketmaster and Telecharge BUT FIRST find your discount code through TheaterMania.com BroadwayBox.com or even googling, as I have.

Stay away from Broadway.com unless it's a sold out last resort kind of situation.  I used them in 2012 to take my mom to The Lion King because they had the better seats left.  I was a novist when it came to theater back then and was unaware of th fees they were imposing.  Thought that was a Broadway standard as I'm sure many think.  I'm glad I learned.  I cringe when I see patrons with a Broadway.com PDF printout of a ticket because I know they could have bought another ticket or two at their fees.

Telecharge has a Broadway Offers page as stated here before but Ticketmaster doesn't.

Broadway.com is a HUGE rip off. They are literally a glorified ticket broker. Their service fees are absolutely disgusting.

Ticketmaster does allow you to enter in a discount though. The main difference is that telecharge has a designated website for that but Ticketmaster doesn’t.

This is true, but I believe you are looking at it backwards. Ticketmaster often has an area for a promo code to be entered on every page, even when there may not be any active discounts available. When people see this, though, if often prompts them to google whether there is a discount available so they can enter the code to save $$$.

Sine Telecharge was started by theater owners, they didn't want their ticketing system to trigger that behavior, so they only accept discounts on a parallel website that you either know about in advance or find once you already have a discount code.
