I am curious as well. Do you think its safe to say the cast is the same for the rest of the run? More specially Laura Donnelly?

I heard many are leaving when the show was supposed to close in March.

I'm incredibly disappointed so many cast members seem to be leaving only five months after opening. Where tickets only on sale until February 19th?

I guess when I bought my tickets I thought I was buying part of the original run. Oh well. Looking forward to seeing the play.

Yes, the play was originally scheduled to close on February 17 but was extended to July. The majority of the cast are not American and their length of stay could be a contract issue. It's also likely that many of them have other work lined up based on the originally scheduled run.

The replacement cast seems exceptionally strong and I am looking forward to seeing the play again after they take over.

Gah, I remember seeing BDJ in another Irish play ten years or so ago.  A three person play, and John Gallagher Jr was in it too.  Off-Bway....at the Atlantic? (Maybe)  I remember his accent being spot on.

Saw it this past weekend and was blown away. After hearing this news I really want to see it again. Shuler Hensley will make a great Tom Kettle.

Ah! I thought the play was originally set to run through early March. It's quite difficult to retroactively find a closing date for a play that's extended... which I found out trying to prevent this. Alas!

It does seem to be quite a strong cast but I can't help being disappointed in missing the originals.

Conor McPherson's Port Authority at the Atlantic. He was also great in The Lieutenant of Inishmore on Broadway. He's obviously really comfortable playing Irish.

The new cast seems very strong and glad to see so many of the original cast staying on.
But, unless my eyes fail me, the link doesn't say Laura Donnely is staying on; nor does it say who might be replacing her as Caitlyn.

After just seeing Torch Song, it would be really interesting to see Jack DiFalco perform as Shane Corcoran at the Ferryman.

When I saw Ferryman a few days ago, I gasped when Mary Carney went up the stairs holding one of the babies and almost tripped! I was like.... omg!!!!! Good thing she didn't but had she... anyway,  glad to see they're using real babies in the show. I remember watching Band's Visit and they don't use a real baby.

I'm only going to attend this production once. Any opinions on which cast I should see? ( Yes, I know no one has seen the new cast yet perform in THIS play. )

I saw Paddy Considine in nearby take-out shortly after matinee.  He said they're leaving in a couple of weeks. If anyone knows better, let me know. Folks in the theater told me that the European cast could only perform for six months b/c of equity rules.  The actors who play Maggie Far Away and Aunt Pat are staying along with the priest.  That's what they said when I was at the stage door on 1/26.

The announced date is 2.19. Tickets sales appear to drop off considerably at that point.

That might explain why so many Feb and Mar dates were up on Audience Rewards earlier this week

If time is no issue, then I'd see it with the current cast. I think part of what makes the play works is the chemistry among the cast members and I understand at times it just clicks but for the most part it's something that develops over time. My 2 cents.

Fionnula Flanagan (Aunt Maggie Far Away) is staying until April, but Dearbhla Molloy (Aunt Pat) is leaving with most of the cast on February 17. Ann McDonough is replacing her.

Agree with this sentiment. One of the striking things is how how the actors feel like a family, an overall comfort level with each other that is portrayed on stage. Laura Donnelly/Rob Malone, the older brothers and cousins, and aunt/uncle Pat come to mind specifically.
