I don't know how this casting idea never occurred to me, but I need somebody to make it happen pronto. She would be brilliant.

She'd NEVER headline FUNNY GIRL on Broadway. Regionally or at a community theatre? Absolutely.
Heck, the announced 2012 Broadway revival starring Lauren Ambrose and Bobby Canavale and directed by Bartlett Sher was cancelled because they couldn't get investors. Jessica Vosk's name wouldn't even make it on the list if this was considered again.
And for the record, Barbra Streisand wasn't unknown when she was cast in the original 1964 Broadway production. She already had a few hit albums, already had a Grammy Award and was regularly appearing on national TV in variety shows so she was familiar to most of the country.

I saw Natasha J Barnes as Fanny last year on the West End. She was fabulous. I hoped that production would transfer, but it never did...
