I've read a number of (mostly enthusiastic) reports on "Bandstand" in the last 10 days, but several people saw the show with one of the two stars out. Have absences become routine? It's a demanding show for Cott, based on the OBC recording, which I'm besotted with. Seeing the show Saturday afternoon, and assume there's no scheduled reason for either Cott of Osnes to be out. Just curious if this has become a recurring issue.

Laura missed only one show I believe in order to perform in DC for the PBS 4th of July festivities. It was reported that it was her understudy's debut in the role; so it seems like that is the only show that Laura has missed since it's opening.
Much ado about nothing.
In the words of Mr. William Morris Barfee, "In my whole life I have only been able to breathe through one nostril and today is no exception!"
Yes, Jessica Lea Patty made her debut on Monday night in the role.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
If he missed the Saturday matinee that weekend then he also missed the Sunday matinee.
The audience didn't seem very upset, probably because they didn't know who he was. His understudy did well, in what Who's Who said was his Broadway debut, and the role is difficult.
Also saw Corey in the role and he has more stage presence.
Looking for a turnaround, but if you check Telecharge for tickets available for next Saturday night's show, three days away, only about 65 of 225 mezzanine seats are sold.
Since the show opened, Osnes has had one scheduled absence. Cott has had two, both apparantly nonschedued and due to vocal issues, both on Sunday matinees.I'm pretty sure he was in both shows on June 24th. In any case, absences are rare so far.
I've seen the show twice - once with Corey and once with his understudy Jonathan Shew. Corey has so much presence and command in the role and really embodies the role of Donny so beautifully. I loved Jonathan in the role and I liked that he approaches it softer than Corey does and I thought his voice was gorgeous. The day I saw Jonathan go on for Donny was Sunday matinee June 25th and Jonathan posted a photo of himself getting ready on Instagram and mentioned for Corey to get better.
I know Laura has a few concerts coming up in the middle of the month that she's been rehearsing with Santino Fontana for that she's shown on her Instagram story. I want to say it's July 21st and 22nd, but I could be iffy on the dates.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
Corey Cott did a show while his wife was in labor--that sounds like dedication to me.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

I was at the matinee performance on June 24th and Corey and Laura performed, but I know Corey was out for that Sunday's show. Laura missed one performance on July 4th due to performing in DC as others have mentioned, and Bandstand does not do shows on Monday so she only missed one (that I can recall). I'd say, they both have great attendance records so don't worry :)
Are you suggesting he's not doing weekend matinees?
Not suggesting anything of the kind. Just reporting his absence on that day.
This cast is doing everything possible to draw attention to the show. Will go anywhere and perform. On August 6th the cast will be performing swing at 54 Below. The presence of the two leads not confirmed yet.
Osnes is practically never out (though she was for performance events like the one listed above). I remember in a Cinderella interview (or vlog?) that Santino Fontana had to console her because she was so upset about taking a day off. So laura will pretty much always be in attendance, I'm assuming.
Nice line at the box office today. Repeat business. Out of towners paying full price. I love this score, and look forward to seeing the show Saturday afternoon. The BO says they're doing okay. And that the stars are committed to appear at all 8 (I knew that, but it was volunteered when someone ... else ... asked.) Osnes has one of the best attendance records on B'way.

I was there this afternoon. Entire company in, and both stars in superb form and voice. Cott -- it's just impossible to say too much about this emotion-driven performance. He is the heartbeat of this story and this production, and he gives unstintingly. Even having heard the CD, I was awed by his subtlety and layers. A Tony performance in a season that couldn't accommodate its riches? Maybe. I'd swap him for at least one of the other nominees, but that's all history now.
The house was about 75% sold, but mostly discounted. See this now, if you're interested. If you're not -- I wasn't until I heard the recording -- give it a try. So many people left saying how surprised they are by the show's power. And their enjoyment of it.
