The good thing about this thread is that it at least  brought the basket of Trump supporters and acceptors to the surface. You jack holes may not necessarily be racist scum like your neon orange leader but at least we know his racist rhetoric and his homophobic vice presidential pick did not disturb you enough to keep him out of office.

and nobody is taking away your right to do as you please sexually. However I will be persecuted and arrested, for what I choose. Nobody is arresting anyone for being gay or ever will  in America. That happens in nations  that Hillary embraces like Saudi Arabia and Quatar. Most Americans appreciate gay people, even those against gay marriage. Who said anything about arrests? You're still more likely to be beaten in the streets for openly showing affection to the same sex than you are for smoking marijuana. And when politicians suggest that same sex relationships aren't equal to heterosexual ones, they're part of the cause.

Most Catholics, Jews and Muslims are 100% against gay marriage, religious folk are usually not doing the violence, here in America. One of my associate ia a drag queen, got robbed and beaten with Deblasio in office and Obama.  Trust me, his attackers were not  Republicans lmao !

Not exactly. People on this board are also talking about things like Sweet Charity, In Transit, and a hundred other similar topics, which compared to all the horrible things going in the world today are trivial, at best. So I hope you're reproaching everyone in those threads for not addressing those more important matters as well.

This is a theatre chat board, so people discuss theatre. If that seems too unimportant to you in the broader context of things, then you really shouldn't be here yourself. Indeed, why are you here?

This thread was started to discuss the incident at Hamilton, not any other subject. So it strikes me as entirely appropriate that those who wish to discuss this incident would discuss it here. No one is forcing anyone who doesn't wish to discuss it either to post here or even to read the thread.

I also do not share your dismissal of etiquette as unimportant, whether inside or outside a theatre. As far as this episode is concerned,  it was breached flagrantly. And in the overall scheme of things, basic decorum is fundamental to the fabric of society. If you tear it out, society goes to hell. We see more than enough examples of that all around us.

undercoverusher appears to be an absolute raging lunatic, but anyways... back to the topic of this thread.

Was this appropriate?  I say yes. Theatre has always been a place for actors and writers to spread their ideas and values to a large audience.  Just because Hamilton is a big and commercial musical does not mean that they can't spread a message that they find to be important.  I have a newfound respect for Miranda and the cast of Hamilton for standing up for what they believe in and for doing it in such a respectful manner.  After the many hate crimes that minorities have faced over the last couple of weeks, I do not blame them for speaking their concerns to Pence.  All that I saw going on was democracy.

 

That being said Mr. "Electrocute gay people untill they're straight" Pence is absolute scum and deserves anything that happens to him.  Also, I find it scary that a group of people respectfully using their first amemdment right would be faced with such hate.  It's very sad.
