I really hope they've written an end of the show duet for Anna and Elsa. They NEED a moment together vocally besides For The First time in forever reprise."

LxGstv said: "Previews are now less than a month away and NY1 has been airing this interview with Michael Grandage where he says that they changed about 30% of the show for the Broadway run."

I can't remember but how did the show end in Colorado?...but agreed on all accounts, that's all her new songs are. Dangerous to Dream seems to work due to the sentiment behind it, and I'd say we need a big decision maker in place of the monologue-like Monster, but I keep forgetting Let it Go IS the big turning point for her, it's the biggest decision she's ever made in her life up to that point, so could or WOULD another one work and not be repetitive?  Not that Wicked parallels aren't running everywhere already, but DF and NGD are two decision makers, but out of two very different situations and mindsets, so...I wonder. And PLEASE no Open Door reprise ala DLR or DCL...it's just extremely awkward.

I wonder what 30% consists of. They just announced they'll be dropping four of the new songs to stream every Friday leading up to official opening which is odd considering there's no album yet, so I guess they're not changing much of the songs...

Looks like no new Elsa material as they announced they'll stream Dangerous to Dream and Monster on the website. Hopefully they've been rewritten some but I kind of doubt it :/

When did you see it in Denver? I saw it opening night and closing night and they definitely changed some lyrics in both songs. Not huge changes, but they obviously were reworking stuff while out here. They also dropped a few of the narrator parts by the end of the Denver run. I wonder if they count the changes made in Denver in that 30% figure or if that's just changes they've made since being back in NY. Monster is my favorite song so I'm totally fine if they leave that one alone :)

This show needs absolutely zero narration. What a boring and safe choice.

He was very specific that the 30% changes were done between Denver and Broadway, and even said he appreciated the extra time to work on it.

I agree with you on this one. Less was better but I could live with no narration, especially with a story people know so well. It didn't ruin it for me by any means, but I think cutting at least most of the narration would serve the show well.

Agreed, but cut ALL of it. If they cut most of it, it would mean only a few moments are narrated and that would just be weird to watch. Why only narrate a few scenes and not the rest? That is asking for yet another show without a clear direction. I'm not sure who had the idea that narration was necessary or a good idea, but even if it were a good idea, it's not necessary. Narration is an odd storytelling device that either works or it doesn't. And it certainly can't be half assed in it's usage, and when it is, you can tell and it's almost always painful to witness. It has to be used as part of the story itself, ala "Joseph", Evita, and Little Shop, which use narration to great effect because it's made to intertwine with the story quite seamlessly, but it can't be used to merely "tell" rather than "show". The narration in Frozen seems to be more of a rehashing of events narrated by a character that hardly had any point to the story to begin with. Aka "Telling" me what's happened when most audiences already know it, and just want to be "shown" the story.

I think the narration ended pretty early in Act One in Denver.  I don't recall it in Act Two at all.  I think it was just used to set up and introduce the "Hidden People" who pretty much disappear after Elsa and Anna parents die.  They didn't just disappear as their bodies were lifted and carried off stage by the Hidden People...which was awkward....

I thought this had been described earlier.  Elsa and Anna parents are supposed to go on a ship for the trip where the ship is lost and they are presumed dead.  Only, on stage, there is no ship.  The actors stand and the hidden people pick them up and hold them up high - prostrate - like fallen warriors - and carry them off stage.  It made it look like the Hidden People killed them which was what I meant by awkward.  It was very confused staging.  Hopefully it has been fixed.

These pictures give a glimpse of the broadway set, the most notable difference is that the lip of the deck has the “u” shape for the conductor https://www.instagram.com/p/BerARuxBwKh/

Of the entire show this was the scene I struggled the most with. I loved the show, but this scene was weird. I hadn't even considered that it looked like the hidden people killed them haha! Surely this part will be different, although I really don't want them spending a ton of time on how and why they die.

I just remembered, I also had a friend who was able to see it, and also mentioned that the moment where they realize they need to visit them, the Queen does this ridiculous "calling the trolls, like she was speaking in tongues or some s***!, it was almost comical!"...I'm quoting him. I hope this changed, because this sounds laughable.

The way the parents die in the Disneyland Park shkw is quite beautiful. It’s just a gorgeous transition.

Yes she indeed does a weird orca call thing chant whatever to call them. Before that which was even more comical was her dramatic line reading of "We NEED the HIDDEN FOLK of the MOUNTAIN"

I just noticed Sven will have an alternate.... What is it about the role that makes it need an alternate? Is it the headpiece? The way the actor needs to move?

The actor playing Sven seems to be hunched over and pretty much on all fours the whole time he is onstage and Sven is standing
