You're right there. I would only add stuff on IMDB until after an official confirmation is made.
Anyways due to the lack of casting news from D23, I don't think we'll hear who's playing Moana for at least a couple months.
Here's what I'm thinking, if Dinah Jane Hansen doesn't get the part, maybe she could do a cover of one of the songs for the film, like Demi Lovato did for "Let it Go", she could maybe do it as a duet with Opetaia Foa'i, who's contributing to the music.
She seems adorable and she's Pacific Islander too!

she does. strange that we didn't get to hear her singing voice in that video. i guess they want to showcase it when they preview a song snippet later on.
^IA, though I have no doubt she has a great voice plus her speaking voice sounds like a Disney princess if that makes any sense.
Lin's tweet on the casting
I think you can hear her singing at the end of that video turn up the volume.
CONGRATS DISNEY PRINCESS, AULI'I CRAVALHO! She's great and her singing (if that's her) is gorgeous!
Christopher Jackson is going to be the opening singer!!!https://twitter.com/Lin_Manuel/status/786990771723464704

This is the collector in me talking, but I'm just relieved the Disney Store created a unique body type for the Moana dolls. That would have created some anger, if they had a standard Princess body.
the pop, end-credits version of Moana's big "I want" song is available to hear now https://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwtv/article/FIRST-LISTEN-New-Lin-Manuel-Miranda-Song-How-Far-Ill-Go-from-Disneys-MOANA-20161028
I hate her vocal stylings and the production of that song, but I guess that's what audiences wants nowadays!
I'm hoping this is just like Let It Go and the actual song is more popular than the pop cover.
i always prefer the film version to the pop version (especially the Celine Dion songs from the 90's, despite how much i like her as a singer) so it's safe to assume the same in this instance I think.
I actually just listened to How Far I'll Go and it seems like a good song, I don't know Alessia Cara or her work but she sounds like a Sia ripoff.
new clip from what I assume is the opening number, featuring LMM's vocals - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPnyxYY1amA

But for this song in particular I wish they had gotten a Polynesian singer to sing the English part as well as the backing vocals. My 11 year old Kiwi daughter (huge Hamilton fan) walked over while I was watching the clip and said, "Why's he singing it?" I think that will be the response from a lot of people from this part of the world.
a lot of people seeing this movie will probably have no clue who he is or care why he's singing that part
Anybody else a little disappointed that it appears as though Phillipa's character doesn't sing? I remember it being a huge piece of news that she had a small part, and maybe the soundtrack just doesn't list her because it's a small solo (similar to Annaleigh Ashford in "Frozen" but I was really hoping she sang.
Phillipa's part has always been listed as 'villager' so I don't think it was ever meant to be big unfortunately. Some early reviews in and they're positive!

I'm in New Zealand. This movie has been getting a lot of media attention here. With issues already being raised by Polynesians (Maui's body size, the brown skin costume) it's not a stretch to think that people here will be interested in who's singing this song.I don't personally have a problem with Lin singing it. This clip is beautiful and powerful. I just think it would be even more beautiful and powerful if the lead vocals were sung by a singer who a) has a stronger voice, and b) is from the culture the song is celebrating.LMM tweeted that originally he just sang the demo and the plan was to have someone else sing the final version. But that Disney changed their mind. I think they should have kept to the original plan. When I explained to my daughter that LMM was singing because he wrote the song she said, "They should have gotten Stan Walker to sing it instead." That would have been awesome.
Well, surprise! I saw this movie last week through a advanced screening and loved every second of it! Phillipa doesn't sing, but Christopher Jackson is the singing voice of Moana's dad. Auli'i's voice is beautiful! Lin Manuel Miranda's songs are extremely special here.Where You Are- The music reminds me a lot of "Flower of Gold" from the cruise musical for Tangled. The backup chorus reminds me of Lion King songs. Talks a lot about the village and Moana's roleHow Far I'll Go-The movie version is way better than the credit version. Auld'l's voice is so beautiful, but pictured someone higher. The orchestrations are classic Disney mixed with Pacific music. The visuals are gorgeous. We Know The Way-SkippedHow Far I'll Go (Reprise)-You can hear in a link I posted last night. But, it is so powerful and moving at the end. The scene reminds me of Mulan leaving a lotYou're Welcome-Very 90s Disney from the music to the visuals with bright colors and 2D animation. The rap is comparable to "Music Man" (We've Got Trouble)Shiny-I do not have a real opinion because man, this threw off. Jermaine Clements talks-sings through Shiny with the chorus being R&S (rhythm and soul). It's really hard to understand what Jermaine is saying because he speaks very very low through the song. Look up the middle of Ruber's Song from Quest for Camelot to see what the tune is like. But, when Maui comes, that's when the song gets amazing. Very nasty and awesome visuals!I Am Moana- Absolutely stunning. I can't really describe it because of spoilers. But, this is a song about the character of Moana and some beautiful chanting with another reprise of How Far I'll Go. The I AM MOANA belt is amazing.Know Who You Are-Made me cry hard. It's the baby trailer music with only voices of kids are added in and Moana sings to *SPOILER* Moana's part is just like Eliza's part in "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story" in Hamilton. The slowness of animation makes it so powerfulWe Know The Way (Reprise)-The version in the first trailerI can't wait for all of you to see it!
