Don't get me wrong, I love Jessie Mueller. But a brand-new spot just ran on television this morning for BEAUTIFUL and the voiceover said "...and featuring best actress Jessie Mueller" with text that has her name and the words "Best Actress"
Could anyone elaborate on this? Has she won some kind of award already for her this show? I have no idea why they have labeled her as "Best Actress," since it doesn't indicate what she is "Best Actress" for/of. Confused.
I just saw a commercial (I'd assume it was the same one), and it said "Now nominated for 7 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Actress Jessie Mueller."
I have it on good authority that there is a store called "Best Buy". Who decided that?
And maybe, but I can't be 100% sure of this, some shows have also advertised such things as "funniest show" or "best music" or "year's best comedy". I think that's called advertising.
Yeah, well thanks for pointing out the obvious, Patash. It just kind of took me by surprise because I don't know most agencies - SpotCo, AKA, etc. - to do that without some mention of why or how they are the "Best," whether it be a pull quote from a review or an award nomination/win. That's all.
It's perfectly acceptable to use puffery in advertising. And, since "best" is subjective, it could be anyone's opinion, including the marketing team's. This is so as long as they don't use "2014 Tony Award Winning Best Actress."
Liza's Headband's too tight. She heard the commercial wrong... Plain and simple. It said nominated for 7 tony awards ...including Best Actress Jessie Mueller. Maybe Liza's losing her hearing and not just her voice...
