>>>thehughjackman 2 hours ago What you read in the NY Post is true. Not sure exactly when, but I'm really excited. A great team for The River... Can't wait to tread the boards again!!! #TheRiver #thegreatwhiteway<<<
Very excited for THE RIVER as a major Jackman fan as well as an admirer of Jez Butterworth. Loved JERUSALEM; I hope the character of The Man has the same tour-de-force quality as Rylance's character in JERUSALEM.
>A spokesperson for the production said that the play, which was staged in London by the Royal Court Theatre in 2012, will premiere on Broadway in the 2014-15 season, with Sonia Friedman Productions and the Royal Court co-producing.<<<
Also, Michael Riedel has indicated a likely spring 2015 opening.
X-Men Apocalypse will also be shooting in 2015 so I imagine Hugh needs to confirm when he needed for that before they can lock down dates and a theatre for The River.
so should we expect record ticket prices for this. especially if it plays a small theater like the Schoenfeld, Longacre or Jacobs.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Well it's playing the Circle in the Square, I can't even imagine how crazy this ticket prices will be, especially around the holidays!! An average of $250 would not surprise me (BOM was close to that this year!).
I loved Jerusalem so much that this news almost disappoints me. High Jackman at Circle in the Square? It's going to be obscenely expensive (and difficult) to get a ticket.
