Well, I finally saved up some money to buy my friend and I tickets for this one-night-only concert of Manhattan Concert Productions' Titanic, and I couldn't be more excited. Titanic was the first ever Broadway CD I owned, and it was my introduction to the world of showtunes. I'm hoping the concert will live up to praise my friend gave last years' Ragtime.

Is anyone else planning to attend this performance? I think this show has one of the most beautiful scores that I've heard, and to be flushed out with a lush orchestra and grand chorus of singers (I believe that cast will be announced any day now?) will be a true delight!

I saw the original production and you couldn't get me back into another performance using a cattle prod. Hated it. THE LIFE should've won that year.

Agreed. Watching the original production was like watching pair dry.....on a very bad painting.

I have to agree with the OP - I am a fan of TITANIC's music and now that the February cast has been announced, I'll be there!

Much of the Original Cast is going to be performing (including my favorite, Victoria Clark!) Her First Class Roster number was the first patter song I ever learned and I can still remember every word.

I remember going to the original production expecting a really horrible show and score with wonderful staging, but in fact I found it totally the opposite! And for the record, we saw The Life a couple nights later, which we loved, but frankly I think the score of Titanic is wonderful. I think a concert version should be great.

I couldn't agree more with HUSHPUPPY. You couldn't get me to sit through that awful musical with that awful score with two cattle prods. Dull is the only word that comes to mind. I wouldn't go if they had Streisand in it...well okay. I'd go if Streisand were in it. But I'd have to drink a lot of coffee.

I have my tickets. I absolutely adore this score, the choral work is breathtaking. I was really looking forward to hear some new voices sing the score, but an original cast reunion is fantastic and I can't wait.

I am beyond thrilled with this cast. Already ordered tickets thanks to WithoutATrace. Wonder why Judy Blazer isn't coming back as Caroline (or even Marla Schaffel)?

The score and cast are terrific. It is great they will get another chance after that previous reunion with the botched sound.

They should make a Titanic where the ship survives and the Carpathia goes down, just to change things up a bit.

I was pretty sure I was going to hate this, too, from watching the opening number on the Tony Awards. I fell in love with it.

IF I can managae a trip that week, I'm certainly going to try to go.

How are the rear orchestra seats and the tier 2 and 3 seats (not the box seats)? I'm trying to decide what to buy but I just don't know this venue very well. I think I've sat in the box seats overlooking the stage and it was a long way down.

I am very bummed though that Victoria Clark isn't doing this anymore.

Not sure. It was on TDF just now and I bought 1 ticket, so I'm thinking they're trying to get rid of the rest of the random tickets.

Wait, when did Victoria Clark pull out of the production? I didn't hear anything about that.

It just happened.

I can't remember if Michele Ragusa understudied this role in the original production.

Just found this on ibdb. Looks like she did understudy multiple roles, but Alice Beane wasn't one of them!

I hated TITANIC when I saw it on Broadway. As a whole, the production and the piece is a bore. But, Jesus Christ, this video (of the only song I enjoyed) and the emotional response from original cast members is just too much. I had chills multiple times. Enjoy.

I got my ticket a few months back for the Third Tier and I am really excited! I also absolutely love the score, it gives me chills multiple times. I am too young to have been able to see the show on Broadway, but I am very excited to see this concert version!
