I was just wondering, are they selling student rush during the preview period, or would I have to wait until after the show opens?

The Shubert does standing room. I stood there for Spamalot so I know that this is a theatre that does offer it. I was reading in another thread (the one about both the rush for this and Breakfast at Tiffany's) and someone said that the day after rush was announced they went to see if they could get it for Matilda, were told up and down that this show isn't offering rush (despite the rush info being up on telecharge as well as the shows Facebook page), and was offered standing room instead. I don't mind standing. I really don't. I mean the only downside to standing for something like Spamalot is that the opening scene is down out of two windows that are rather high up in the proscenium. But other then that, it was a great view.

From the way the rush policy is described on the show's website it sounds like they are not setting aside specific tickets for rush. It seems to be a case of "if there are seats available," so if the show is sold out, or close to it, they won't be offering rush seats for that day.
$27 – a limited number of student tickets will be available at the box office on the day of the performance beginning at 10 AM. Two kinds of photo ID will be needed: a non-expired full time student ID, as well as a government issued photo ID, drivers license or passport. Limit 2 tickets per person per 30 day period. Of course, tickets are subject to availability and may not be offered at all performances. Some locations may be partial view.
2 tickets per person per 30 day period? I've never heard of that nor do I get how they would police that. Also what's with the second form of ID? I didn't realize we were buying state secrets.

Im assuming, based off of yesterdays posts, that if Student Rush is not available for any specific day, the BO will offer Standing Room. Im going to wait a while to see how the rush is...if they only actually give out tickets every 3 or 4 days, it wont be worth lining up.
Was told at the box office yesterday, that producers decided against standing room for the entire preview period - and that student rush would be available, but they didn't have a set start date yet. (most likely a week or so into the preview run, he said)
i was there last night and i am 99% positive that their were people standing in the back of the theater in the "standing room" section. it's possible that they were people involved with the show, but it looked like patrons.
Apparently, they did sell student rush this morning. They will sell standing room once the show opens, but the man at the box office said they didn't know if they had to wait for the show to be 100% sold out to do so. They haven't made a call on the SRO policy yet.
These folks are changing their policies every time the producers have a meeting! I say this from stopping by there several times over the last few days, getting contradictory info each time, and from the very nice people behind the counter telling me why things haven't seemed to make sense :-p
I will say that the man I spoke to at the box office was very nice. The info he gave was what he knew and he acknowledged that some of the policies had just changed.
(I also overheard either a rehearsal or put-in that was going on in the theatre this afternoon. Sounded good!)
Anyone successfully done this yet? Would like to tomorrow since it may be easier with the nasty weather and all. Would 9/9:30 be fine? And how much/cash only? Any help would be appreciated!
walked in today and got 2 tickets with no problem at 10:15. they accept credit cards and the seats are side orchestra (partial view). needless to say i am thrilled!
also, 2 IDs were definitely not requested. he glanced at my student ID but definitely was not scrutinizing it as i guess was initially portrayed.
I just got out often student rush line. We got there around 8 and were about 8th in line. From my estimation they sold 15 tickets, there was only 1 available after we bought our pair. Everyone bought night tickets, I'm not sure about the matinee but the box office man announced "only 1 ticket left," which I think meant total. We are partial view HH 20-22. It sounds like they are just selling extra partial view, there are no specific rush seats.
They only asked for one form of ID and barely looked.
There was definitely a matinee today (Milly was on the board this morning and Bailey was on tonight), so I'm not sure why there were no tickets. Like I said it looks like they're just selling what is left over in partial view.
