Now that's it's been announced Jessie Mueller is going to be Helena in the Drood revival, it creates a conundrum if Into the Woods comes to Bway. So will she go with Drood, thus opening the role of Cinderella for Broadway?
I was actually just about to ask this. I wonder if they will need a new actress for the part if they transfer it to Broadway. I think Sierra Boggess would be great, but it depends on if she sticks with 'Ever After' and when it will open.
The original production of THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD officially changed its name to DROOD during its run on Broadway. Is it really so offensive to use the shortened moniker here?
As per Mueller--a transfer of INTO THE WOODS is entirely hypothetical at this point. I don't understand why people are acting like it's a foregone conclusion. Far from it, I'd imagine.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Yes, it is offensive. Rupert Holmes loathed the fact that they changed title but the decision was made by the NYSFs advertising firm and approved by Mr. Papp.

So if she does DROOD she won't be in WOODS. Would she even consider being or make a good POPPINS? She can't do STREETCAR because she's white or PRISCILLA, cause that just close...maybe she could even do 'VITA or 1ce.
The abbrev. for INTO THE WOODS is ITW, not WOODS. Get with it!

Sierra Boggess would make a great Cinderella, but perhaps not in this production. She has the look for the classic Cinderella, not the 1980s punk with a nose piercing Cinderella. I am sure she could do it, she just isn't the first one I would associate with the role this time around.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
I think Sierra would be great, but she still has "Ever After" and "Prince of Broadway." Too bad Laura Osnes is already playing Cinderella in a different production! What about Ashley Brown?
"I saw Pavarotti play Rodolfo on stage and with his girth I thought he was about to eat the whole table at the Cafe Momus." - Dollypop
The role of Helena in DROOD is miniscule (I'm actually rather shocked Mueller is even doing it after her success with ON A CLEAR DAY...) Yes, you can do a lot with it, but if INTO THE WOODS moves and the two end up conflicting, there's no way she'd choose Helena over Cinderella. You can't even compare the parts.
I'm sure Roundabout is already prepared for the prospect of losing her, since I know for a fact other INTO THE WOODS cast members have been turning down work for the fall that would impede their availability for a transfer.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
