I doubt it. I've never really understood why Mistress has that song. It makes it seem like her role is super important when we all know that it isn't. With all of the women from Nice Work, Porgy and Bess, and Follies, I wouldn't expect to see Rachel nominated.

The Mistress is not a role you nominate. She doesn't really do anything.

And I think Norm is a lock. He's brilliant in that role.

I really don't think Evita has a chance of winning revival unless they throw us a curveball. But who knows.

A nomination? I do think so.

As for who's winning, it'll be down between P&B and FOLLIES. I think Drama Desk and OCC will be some predictors.

also......GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS, THE FOLLIES MEN ARE LEADING!! The Tony committee said so, and the producers didn't petition it. It would look weak on their part to petition it now. Even though Gene Nelson was nominated as Featured Actor in the original.

I doubt John Dossett would be nominated as featured, right? He was pretty forgettable when I saw it...

I would have thought Kara's role as Katherine would be considered leading rather than featured but I agree she would have more of a shot in the featured category.

The Mistress is barely in Evita so a nomination is unlikely but then again if Judi Dench can win an Oscar for her role in Shakespeare in Love despite only being in it for 8 minutes, anything's possible.

You guys are right about Jordan.
I believe Danny has a great record with nominating commitees and I am rooting for him so I am biased.
Kazoo get some great notices but that show seems not to be catching on at all, he is certainly a contender.
It's gonna be a nail-biter in this category.
I feel bad for Ron Raines who I thought was excellent.

This is going to be one crazy year... What are people's predictions on the winner for best revival and best actress? I think Evita has a fair shot at best revival, but that's just me. Curious to see what others think.

Who said they were featured, SondheimFan? I put them in the leading category... Also, it's not a matter of them looking weak to petition them now. They aren't allowed to anymore. Once the ruling has been made, there is no more petitioning allowed.

but then again if Judi Dench can win an Oscar for her role in Shakespeare in Love despite only being in it for 8 minutes, anything's possible.

Yes, but Jonwo, this isn't the Oscars and Rachel Potter is NOT Judi Dench, who was already SUPER famous before that movie.

Kazoo get some great notices but that show seems not to be catching on at all

Are you serious? It played at 90% capacity last week and made $664k. That's WELL over it's weekly running cost. Ever since opening, Once's ticket sales have really taken off.

bwayphreak, Evita will be nominated, but it does not have a shot against the well-reviewed (and still open) Porgy and Bess or the well-reviewed (yet closed) Follies. Most people on here are predicting Follies, but I think Porgy and Bess will take it.

Best Actress will either be Audra of Porgy and Bess or Cristin Milioti of Once. If Kelli is raved about, she could win, but I don't see that happening. Elena will not be winning.

Other people have been saying Danny will be nominated Featured.

If it really comes down to MacDonald vs. Maxwell, do we think there's a chance it could go to Jan? Her role is less "showy" than Bess, but Audra's already won 4 Tony's, and Jan has been nominated for 4 but never won.

Remind me of Best Actress nominees, too...will Bernie get a nom?

Good point bjh, I didn't follow ONCE's numbers this week, I just don't hear that much buzz about the show.
If you vote for P&G you are voting against Sondheim on two levels, it's def between FOLLIES (MY PICK) and P&G.

bjh2114- We definitely have different predictions EVITA Reviews What you are saying does make sense though. I would LOVE for Elena to win, but the category this year is full of insanely talented women and extremely competitive.

I was actually debating whether Kara Lindsay would be leading or Featured she has muchbetter chances at featured an as of right now would likly win considering the follies producers will be to busy campaigning for Maxwell and Burnstein, to campaign for Paige or even White. On the note of whether Lindsay is featured or Leading i think she would be featured because I actually had to look back at elligibility rulings and of all the disney romances I would place her in the same catagory as Jane from Tarzan and Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid, who were both considered featured actress/actor, if she narrated the show alla Bert in Mary Poppins, or was not introduced through Jack Kelly and was given her own exposition like Fiona in Shrek she would definitly be leading, but luckily for her and Disney she can be snuggly put intothe featured catagory and be the frontrunner,

I think if Kara is submitted for featured then she is a very good chance of nomination and possibly win although only the only person to win in the acting category for a Disney show was Heather Headley for Aida.

Jordan will be deemed Leading, all others as listed Opening night. Pitting Kara and Carpathia for Featured (Kara has the better material) This is the most crowded category this year, Kara could get a nod in a NEWSIES wave of noms.
But Paige has to be a favorite, right?

In this thread? It just seemed like a bit of a random outburst.

Doubtful, but possible. I'm guessing it will be Audra, Kelli, Jan, and Cristin for sure. Bernadette and Elena will be fighting it out for the 5th spot, and at this point it could go either way. I doubt Caissie is getting a nomination. Ditto for Laura Osnes and Patti Murin.

Okay, so sorry if this is a stupid question, but there are 5 nominees this year??
Yes. There are enough eligible women to make it 5 nominees.

But Paige has to be a favorite, right?

I know you love Follies, CPD, but I don't think so. She MIGHT get a nomination, but I see Kara Lindsay, several of the women from Porgy and Bess, possibly Jessie Mueller, D'avine, and the women from Nice Work (Judy Kaye, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Estelle Parsons) on the list ahead of Elaine.

Yes with the hatred of disney roles but considering the lackluster supporting roles this season especially for women Kara honestly has a gr8 shot of winning the only supporting females to get shout outs in any roles this season are from Follies: Paige and White, Godspell: Lindsay Mendez, Lysistrata Jones: Lindsay Nicole Chambers and Liz Mikel, and honestly I think that Bonnie and Clyde will likly get its sole nomination if its lucky for Melissa van der Schyff, although I know both Ghost and Nice Work will both have at least 1 supporting actess contender I think unless Lindsay drops dead she has it because unfortunatly voters can't see closed shows though i bet follies sent out plenty Of tix to voters as i said b4 their campaign will likly focus on Maxwell and Burnstein.

bdn, you are not giving nearly enough credit to the Porgy and Bess women. Nikki Renée Daniels and NaTasha Yvette Williams both have EXCELLENT chances at being nominated. Especially NaTasha. Melissa van der Schyff will not be nominated. Definitely. It's not happening. She's their best chance at a nomination, but it's still not going to happen. The category is too crowded. The only women from closed shows who could be nominated in the featured category are Elaine Paige and Jessie Mueller. Lindsay Mendez, whom I love, does NOT have a big enough part to be nominated. And while I would love to see Lindsay Nicole Chambers nominated, it's not going to happen.

When I saw Paige in DC, I thought she wasn't really getting the song but she still stopped the show, as did White.
When I saw Paige in NY I was amazed how she nailed it, sang the sh*t out of it and stopped the show even longer.

And with Elena's reception Peters chances have risen.

I know none of them will be nominated but i think of the closed shows Chambers and Paige are most likly to be nominated
I completly forgot about P&B i lloved natashia, but i think the women from P&G have the issue of getting out of Audra's shadow

Don't get me wrong. I really liked Elaine in Follies. But again, just because she's good doesn't mean she automatically gets nominated. And while I agree that Bernadette's chances have gotten better (she really should be thanking Sierra Boggess since she would probably have been nominated for Rebecca if the show came this season), I still think Elena will probably be nominated over her. Her notices are half and half, but Bernadette was really in Jan's shadow for most of the critics who reviewed Follies. Jan stole the show right out from under her feet. But Elena carries her show, so I think she'll catch the eye of the nominating committee.

Why? They are in completely different categories. And NaTasha was singled out in several reviews for how much she WASN'T in Audra's shadow. She was praised for being able to hold her own.
